Less than 12 hours after receiving my Conqueror's title @ a 1280 light minimum.
The date and time I received my first ever ban, permanent ban, on Destiny (that's between Destiny 1 & Destiny 2).
I'd like to start by saying I am a 3rd and final year University Student studying Computer Science as well as what I'd like to classify myself as a curious CyberSecurity Analyst (since this is the field I'm looking to get into). Understandably, I will have programs running not just in the background, but almost always my devices; laptop and main PC are stacked with IDE's, a bunch of debuggers, network analysing tools plus a dozen other tools used for development.
I occasionally have OBS open and running if and when I need to record my gaming or otherwise record my display - such as sometimes, recording my lectures.
Usually when I am gaming I have at least a couple programs actively being worked on compiling, analyzing or running some tasks in the background. Gaming is the what Netflix is to others, is to me, rest, enjoy and take a slight break from study.
I've specifically tailored my firstly built and owned main PC (6+ months now), to what my use-cases require me to do. Yes, I don't exactly have a server at home, but needless to say, having 8+ core system & 48GB ram minimum is "a bit overkill" for a regular user. Hence I am pretty used to using most of my PC's resources and capacity to essentially multi task.
So, what I believe (may) have happened. One of more of these programs are not particularly friends with Bungie's anti-cheat system which I admit, accidentally picked Destiny 2 as the game to run a progress scan on (multiple times in the past too), had posed what it thought as a threat & hence the ban.
I'd like to clarify, none of the programs I use can permanently affect the game either client side, or server side as that's not what they're capable of, *at all*. However what I did, was completely an accident, you can notice the time this happened.
6 days later, here I am waiting on my appeal to be responded to, and by recommendation of some buddies to post a thread on reddit about this. So I'm wishing somehow this changes the outcome of my situation, thanks for reading, bless you all, and don't do the mistake I done.
I am sorry for my actions, and it's unfortunate for what I've done, but given my record, my actions will not done of ill-manner or any parlous reasons.
Thank you for taking time to read this,
Warmest regards to you all.
Hey Sizzy, it's been ages since you posted this, but I'm in an almost exactly identical situation!!! Did you ever end up hearing anything back from Bungo?
I checked your steam account page and it looks like you're still banned, which f***ing sucks. I'm in CS as well. I was running a runtime profiler on one of my applications while D2 was in the background. Tab back in and banned. Shit sucks man. We're here together at least. :)
