I wouldn't mind some sort of trading system.
But... exotics and ritual weapons should be excluded. Except Hawkmoon maybe, as it has farmable rolls.
High end weapons and armour such as raid exclusives could be allowed, because every gear traded in this way would NOT be added to collections. You want it in your collections, you need to earn it.
Raid, dungeon and trial exclusive armour and weapons should only be allowed to be traded once. All other gear can be traded more than once.
And why stop at gear? How about trading masterwork mats and planetary mats? That'd be cool, too. But probably limit the amount of Ascendant shards you can trade in a day though.
This is a good way of looking at it, maybe it can serve well against some of the cons that people already mentioned in previous replies.
I think it all makes sense even the raid gear example because you only get so much of it weekly. Putting limitations is a good way to start making long-term sense.
Also the extension to materials could be a thing, maybe if handled carefully with a fixed maximum amount so it control’s a player’s gains/losses... not entirely sure how to see it.
