LFG Etiquette (Brain Required) TLDR
Smh.....
For years now we as Guardians have been using LFG to find people to play specific activities within Destiny as fast and efficiently as possible, but it has been going downhill for awhile now. I conducted an experiment I searched for Raid groups for 1 hour, I joined every single post that I could, and I waited for an invite. And waited...…. and waited. Not a single invite, so I reached out to those people, and got the following response, "You didn't ask for an invite". At no point should someone join a post and have to ask for an invite lol.
This is how LFG should work all the time....
INVITE PEOPLE TO YOUR LOBBY..... As a LFG Post Creator (YOU) you are responsible for inviting ALL of the people to your game for whatever activity it is that YOU posted for. Your post, your responsibility. If you just posted the fireteam you should have the webpage or app up already to invite people as they come in. Waiting to be messaged by someone who joined your post is pure laziness. Now, before you come at me with the, "Nobody wants to sit and type in everybody's gamertag" nonsense, the app and the webpage allow you to invite said people to your lobby. *Mind Blown* right? You got to love technology. So if you want to be LAZY, don't expect to see much results when using LFG. I personally have a 30 second rule. If after 30 seconds I don't get an invite, I leave that fireteam and search for a new one and so on until I find a team that has common sense.
BE READY TO PLAY.... once you have your fireteam together, start the activity. Remember how I stated that LFG should be and was intended to be Fast and Efficient? You can't be fast and efficient if you just sit in the lobby for 5+ minutes doing nothing. People will leave if all you are going to do is waste time. If you got to go smoke, use the bathroom, let the dog out, take out the trash etc. Do it before you make a post lol nobody has time to sit in a lobby that long. They joined to play an activity and if you aren't ready for that activity, they will leave, and we all know how well that works out. One leaves, then everyone slowly starts leaving. It trickles down till it's just you. Then you wonder why you can't find a fireteam to play an activity, yet all you had to do was be ready to play.
DON'T BE AN IDIOT.... We've all had these types of fireteams, the one where you join and as soon as you get into the party you have that one guy, or three, usually three people acting like complete idiots. You know, the ones who are loud, obnoxious, and or annoying (You know who you are). I for one realize the importance of having a sense of humor, I do, but realize you are playing with random people over the internet and you shouldn't force that on people as soon as they enter the party chat. Get a feel for the room before you start cutting up lol. Annoying people run people out of parties, I guarantee you that. Then you'll always be looking for another player because Billy, Timmy, and Jimmy were acting like idiots.
And just like that, with these 3 simple things you can run a smooth LFG post. Pretty neat huh?

6 回覆1. Yes invite people who are interested to the party and game... This should be common sense 2. Stop advertising your twitch, carry service or clan 3. KWTD +10 CLEARS Yeah you are part of the problem... You block. People from doing certain activities because they donr have X amount of clears. The requirements you have are ridiculous and annoying to casual players who are trying to get certain activities done. Seriously... The prophecy Dungeon I enjoy. I have carried 2 people through that Dungeon without a mic on. I do it with others without a mic regardless I only have 1 raid to do now... Scourge and guess what. Because I haven't done it before I have 0 chance of getting into a LFG. Luckily a kind guardian linked me to a discord server where people ACTIVELY TEACH Raids. Seriously LFG is dumb at times.

Literally EVERY time I've used the app to send the invite it NEVER actually sends an invite at all. I always end up having to look them up on console anyway, so that could be another reason this happens. They could be sending the inv through the app and just think nobody is joining when actually the invite is never sent.

I went to LFG and tried to do a scheduled raid. I scheduled it one day ahead. I put in the date and time using the app options. I kept getting spammed with “______ joined your fire team” and “your fire team is ready” messages. People were joining and I was also getting messages from them saying “send me an invite.” After about 20 minutes I deleted the post because I didn’t want 24 hours of that. I realized that even though you can choose a date and time to make a scheduled event, the time and date for it would not show up in the post. So a lot of times technology is great, but with this app and this LFG system in particular, I’d say give people a break because it’s not intuitive and isn’t always working as intended. As for people being obnoxious, then yeah, I totally agree. Be chill and just try to focus on the activity and wait a bit before trying to be mister personality. LFG is not a captive audience for your rapping, singing, stand-up comedy act. And for the love of god, don’t eat or chew gum when you’re on a mic.

Well to be fair the app demands you be in orbit and the symbol for invites was something that I couldn’t personally identify without pressing it to see an “invite sent” button and panic because I didn’t want to send an invite. I consider myself well versed in technology and figure stuff out easily, but after working in support I have learned that your average technology user wants things spelled out in front of them and they don’t read it if it’s too many words. They need to improve their UI experience and make it where it does not demand person to be in orbit to send invites. If they can’t make a symbol that is identifiable they need to spell out the word invite or use INV instead of a symbol. We also shouldn’t have to use an app to start with since that’s just slack on bungie’s part that this isn’t an in game feature. For what it’s worth I do agree on what you said though, but I blame bungie for this more than anything because personal experience says people don’t know what they are doing unless it is idiot proof. Most people incorrectly assume gamers are tech savvy and that is a very big mistaken assumption, which gets worse if you are a console gamer since it’s far simpler to get everything operational.

1 回覆I never understood why people don't send us an invite when we join their LFG posting. I wait about 5 minutes, then I close my invitation and move on.

2 回覆I didn’t read past your first paragraph one was painful enough. Usually with lfg if you really want to get into a group messaging the person can’t hurt. Other people will so why should you take priority over proactive people. You said it was an “experiment” so I can’t help but question your motives going into your little test. Did you do all you could to get into an activity or did you attempt to be as meek as possible so you could later complain. Let’s be real nobody here is your mother nor is it anybody else’s responsibility to get you what you want. Who made you special the rest of us are forced to make an effort.

I will always make the posts myself and never join one so I know I won’t be kicked before rewards are given or kicked cause you didn’t do some thing their way. Overall I’ve had a pretty good experience with LFG, on reset I do 3 back to back to back Pit runs I’ve done it over 100 times and can do it myself but I like to carry those who may not have done it as a point of pride. So if you need a lot carry let me know but anyways for raid groups I find those special people who have 500+ clears on a raid tend to be the most obtuse(not everyone) and will loose their mind if things aren’t done their way and derail the whole team to get it done their way I kick them immediately no questions asked no toxicity idgaf what you think. Overall I haven’t really had a bad time on LFG in all honesty even met some really laid back people and kept them as friends.

On Xbox. I have to manually search their names, something keeps happening with the app. Having someone in the lfg message does make it easier especially when the username is mixing in numbers and letters in between, it takes a while depending on how many people are in the lfg.

LFG can be hit or miss. I was in a gos last night with a dude that was at 999 gos clears, we were clearing the encounters nicely and once we got to the 3rd encounter with the harpy boss, one of the LFG dudes were like “just a heads up I only know how to do gambit” and this dude was like “then why the -blam!- did you join my KWTD post?” And the chat was quiet af... I turned my mic on and I was like “just put him on gambit” and the dude yells “I’ll put him wherever the -blam!- I want him” and I just left that toxic shit. Not worth the fast clear at all.

1 回覆I use the Xbox built in lfg service and find it incredibly easy to get into lfg groups there, whether it’s raids, dungeons, Iron Banner, Trials, etc. My advice though is to reply with relevant info and only respond to posts that apply to you. A GOS post might read: “GOS need 3 kwtd, must have 10+ clears.” Before I had 10 clears I responded to other posts. Eventually when I had required number of clears my posts looked something like “20 clears 980 warlock” or whatever. Now I just write “Titan 100+ clears” and get invited almost every time. The more you do an activity and the better you are at it the more likely you’ll get invited.
