Upvote to remove elemental affinities from Armor 2.0

Remember when they said they were going to fix the frustration of getting a pair of Peacekeepers or Tricksleeves with perks that don’t even fit the exotic? Well that still exists, because if you get a different affinity than is associated with those weapons you’re out of luck. This isn’t just a problem on exotics, but on all armor, there’s just too much RNG to get the thing you want, time spent grinding doesn’t matter, odds are you just won’t get it. Pulling these Destiny 2 Year 1 dumb decisions is already making the player base fall off pretty drastically, this game needs to start being for the players, or they’re not sticking around. EDIT: There are some great suggestions here, I really hope Bungie at least reads some of them: •At the very least remove the affinity from exotics, totally agree •Include the option to reroll the affinity with something like Glass Needles, and this wouldn’t be random, you’d choose the affinity you’re rerolling to •Or allow you to mix and match with mods work with which affinity, to create your own perfect mod setup for a build

    • I can work with changing affinity if it's FREE! Grinding shards and prisms are not the way to go. I understand that the best weapons and armor need masterwork and that should take both time and effort. Not the simple things. Let people play. The more things to do the more players will join! and buy the future content if it's a y good! Bungie should change the name from Destiny 2 to GRINDFEST 2.0

      Being able to swap affinities would probably be the best solution as consoles might explode if they had to load every single armor mod in one page. They already lag enough from the current system lol.

      • How about removing Armor 2.0 entirely, but keep the reusable mods. I had the armor set I wanted. Armor 2.0 turned it into garbage.

      • Sadly the move to Armor 2.0 was advertised as this great thing for players, we’d have so many choices and can customize our builds, blah blah blah...When in reality Armor 2.0 is nothing more than increased grind and painful RNG. I’m to the point where I’ve found decent armor and said “I’m done”. Bungie thought this would substitute for actual content, it didn’t, and now we’re in a bad place with overall content and the armor system.

          • You shouldn’t have deleted your 1.0 gear that fast! Use only 2.0 gears class items for warlocks, and may be chests for every character (however only when overload champions are present). Every single other piece of gear is much better in 1.0 format. I have helmets from menagerie with 50 points in stats, no mid tier crap points, I can add an intel mod without wasting energy, they have enhanced targeting and heavy ammo drop. That’s 2 more perks than a +10 2.0 helmet. 1.0 gears can also have double mods (fallen + hive armaments for instance on the same gear), plus traction, plus whatever preferred stat, plus special ammo finder or scavenger. The most obvious are the gauntlets, which yield nothing more than double enhanced reloading, but lost ammo drop/scavenge option: sure I can reload faster two weapons but what if I don’t have ammo in it? What’s the point? Fact remains 2.0 fears are the worst scam ever.

            • Armor affinity is fine. it designed to provide incremental benefits over time. First step is getting the armor you want. if you have collections its easy to get the exotic perk you want. provides the look and seasonal benefit if applicable. second step is getting affinity. you have a 1in 3 chance of getting the affinity. affinity opens up the perk sets so if you want enhanced HC loader you have a 1/3 chance of getting that. this is probably the most beneficial phase for players. third step is the stat rolls. trying to get to 100 for a trait or 2. and trying to get armor pieces with high overall total. fourth is min maxing. making sure no perk is wasted and has the benefit of getting 2 extra stat levels. a very minimal change. it provides a room for improvement over a long period of time but is front heavy on the benefits; you can get the most important things early on but continue to chase after more. Armor 2.0 is leaps and bounds better than to last years design. my only complaint is how low armor stats are on seasonal gear. it seems 95% of seasonal armor drops are at or below 50 point.

                  It's true, it's very frustrating. I am a pure sniper hunter. I need all the vacuum equipment, but the orpheus boots always come to me with arc, or sun damage. Anyway, the armor 1.0 combinations were better. In this you could have two sniper ammunition reserves and targeted without improved tremor, which now does not happen, if you want to combine a sniper with a pulse rifle, and all your armor is void element. That you can't and you have to decide, if you want to play with armor upgrades or choose another weapon like an explorer or hand cannon. In addition to 1.0 armor, you could have a full sniper armor, and have resistance to the damage of the 3 elements. Now you can only have resistance to one. In Armor 1.0, you could play armor with 2 good abilities, for example, improved targeting of sniper rifles, sniper rifle reserves, and you could add the recovery, resistance, or mobility modifier. In 2.0 sniper improved targeting, worth 6 points, recovery is worth 4 points. It would already be full, with a skill less than 1.0. Please, please review the costs of armor skills. We don't want more, we want the same ones we had before. Thanks

                • Nope. It helps with balance purposes. That being said, CHANGING the affinity should be as easy as changing a mod. No reason for the triple layered RNG.

                  • Bungie before armor 2.0 launched: We can remove affinity if the backlash is bad enough. Bungie after 2.0 launch: Affinity is in because of UI issues. We're looking into ways to appease the community. Yea ... So which is it? Haha

                    Affinities need to go, period. We already have the RNG of..... 1 - Getting the drop you want to begin with 2 - Getting stats that you're looking for 3 - Getting a decent overall stat number on the item Adding another layer on top of that with the affinity system is simply not fun. I've lost any enthusiasm for trying to build decent gear sets this season because of this system - it's just a mess and is completely restrictive. What was the mantra we kept hearing about 2.0? 'it's about letting you play the way you want to play'..... No it's not, at all. If anything, it's even more restrictive than the 1.0 system. I understand part of the reason for the affinity system was to limit the mods you could equip on gear so you weren't given a massive list of mods that would be hard to present on screen but, frankly, I'd rather have a clunky, ugly, slow scroll list over the mess that is affinity armor any day. Not that that should even be needed, it can't be that hard to design a simple layout. I bet someone in the community could do it. I'm not for the idea of letting us re-roll affinites either. If we could, why bother with them at all? Plus it would just add yet another currency to grind for and something else to suck up room in our already bloated inventories.

                  • SK week 8: some players are finally starting to see the wood for the tree. Damn it took time! How many more weeks will it take for players to realize that the artifact is the most constraining/restrictive gameplay ever? I’ll place my bets on 2021.
