Destiny would be better if...

They did more with the planets. Add am endgame solo story to each planet. Evolving over time with updates, and increasing reputation to unlock armor ornaments specific to the planets enemies' or allies' armor. Make a larger NPC presence on the planets to support more side quests. Fill up the planet with enemies, and expand the wild zones over time. This would make all the grind and hunting and looting worth every penny. It would make destiny more than just a hamster wheel. Let us live the lore. ::I got locked off the comments for using the adult version of the word poop, not even directly at anyone, literally (putting 10 lbs of ___ in a 5lb bag.:: ::this is not a violation it is a 成语, or traditional phrase.:: Suppression of American cultural sayings and phrases is the same as suppression of culture which is not acceptable and similar incidents (see Tripstadt vs. Warner Bros. Specifically the readout near line 743 where the judge deemed it inoffensive to use curses, swears, or otherwise percievedly ill language within the context of a common phrase ) Have yielded victorious lawsuits and career terminations for those involved. Please reconsider your suppression of my legally, culturally, and personally inoffensive American phrase.

  • Disagree. Games like this kind simply aren't story driven. Borderlands 3 is about as "story driven" as a game like this gets. The biggest---simplest (in terms of game design)----improvement that Bungie could make to this game is to seperate the PVP and PVE sandboxes. The legacy of Halo's PVP and the Fool's Errand of tyring to carve out a 'game of shooting skill" out of a game that is part MMO and part loot-based RPG...and been an absolute ANCHOR around the neck of the game. Its STIFFLED the creativity around the design of weapons and abilities (for God's Sake just take a look at what Borderlands 3 and even Anthem are doing with weapon design without having to drag PVP along behind them).... ...its kept the RPG experience in this game shallow, and its locked us into this aggravating cycle of of being given power with one hand at the start of every Season or new content drop....in the name of PVE.... ....then having taken back with the OTHER hand weeks or months later as the complaints from PVP start to mount. Complaints from people who want a game that is an RPG based around power-progression....to "act" like a "balanced" game of shooting skill. Something that hasn't happened in 5 years....and isn't going to happen any time in the next 50. All its doing is degrading the potential PVE experience Bungie could craft for this game, in the pursuit of a fever dream that is never going happen.

      • Idk to me, the D2 planet systems doesn’t feel nearly the same as it did in D1. Maybe it’s just the nostalgia, but I miss Venus, old Mars, the Dreadnaught, etc. They felt...different somehow. Better. But again, that may just be because it was all so new and exciting back then. Idk.

              • Mister T Baggin You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

              • A balanced pvp. which has almost never existed in Destiny. slightly when it was about gunplay, like in MIDA or Graviton days but other then that no. Titans with overshield.. insta overshield with one eye mask. cmon,... Locks oneshot nades.. and they both have stupidly long supers. #Makedestiny2greatagain

                • Destiny would be better with more strikes, dungeons and raids alongside a big increase to exclusive worthwhile gear from those activities. I dont know why strike loot can only be found in nightfalls? Why are the dreaming city items in shattered throne instead of unique ones?

                        As a mostly PvP player, while I don't think single player campaign/PvE is a necessity for me in most PvP-centric games (I've yet to play the single player campaign of most of the CoD games I bought :P), the original Titanfall did not do nearly as well as it could have because it lacked a single player campaign mode, which Respawn rectified in Titanfall 2. Full disclosure: I never finished playing Titanfall 2 campaign either... but I also think it was a misstep to not have a single player campaign for the first one just because it was a new IP, new 'verse, etc. that you want to immerse people in via a campaign/story/single player mode, to draw people in and get people immersed in that world, so that when it comes down to the PvP, it feels more like you're literally existing in that world and 'verse. Without that initial single player campaign that draws people into the world, for all of Titanfall's advances in PvP mechanics, it reduces the game to simply mechanics with no appeal beyond that, no investment in the game or 'verse beyond simply getting many kills and plays in a match. I think there is more player retention and engagement to be had when people are not just drawn to the mechanics of a game that has PvP, but also has that PvE component that gets people invested in the world and 'verse, and then hopefully even PvE-centric players might be drawn to trying out the PvP. Destiny franchise's major issue is lacklustre PvE that is repetitive, unrewarding, lacking in meaningful choices in terms of how your character relates to the world, the 'verse, and importantly, the NPC heroes that Bungie has populated the world with. When nothing you do in the game seems to matter to the end user, and there aren't enough sufficient outlets for roleplaying or otherwise having your avatar act as if they are an actual living person in that world, it breaks people's suspension of disbelief about all the other fictional and unrealistic elements of the game, which leads to people not becoming invested in the world, the NPCs within it, the lore, the single player campaign stories, or indeed, even their own characters. And I think that very much leads to increased trolling, harassment of other players, etc. simply out of boredom and frustration. I honestly think the Destiny franchise would be best served played out on cloud servers only (a la Google Stadia), but with much, much, much larger PvE worlds where in-game player choices actually matter, where you feel you can effect some kind of change (positive or otherwise) in the world, where the things you do actually matter. Allow players to build a house, or a home base, or something, custom digs you can call your own but you can invite other players to check out if they're interested. Allow people to tame pets or other creatures, decorate them, name them, have them fight alongside you in every activity. --- This was supposed to go into a subthread re: PvP

                        • ......if Bungie had managed to get the game engine/director to handle their original plan of layering D2 on top of D1. We’d still have access to the D1 content. The D2 reboot 16 months before release wouldn’t have happened.

                              Destiny would be better if... ...they would have taken the time to improve Destiny 1 instead of gutting it and presenting us with a year long beta that completely sucked.

                            • I like you idea's but unfortunately it's never going to happen. As Bungie stated they are up to the limit of how big the game can grow once SK releases, hence them taking out content and putting it in a rotation each season, just to add some more content each season.
