The Spinward Marches may be a double reference to the album Traveller by Slough Feg. It is an album based on the same RPG and features a main character who is an ace pilot. The opening track is named Spinward Marches as well.

  • Nice find! Honestly, it makes a lot of sense that lore writers would be influenced by things they liked as a kid and they now use concepts to include in destiny. "I had this badass space pilot named Jarus in the old traveller rpg when we played in my basement as a kid, I'm going to make him a character in destiny"

  • The bones of the album's story resemble the Ace-Defiant's a little bit too. TL;DR an ace pilot smuggler is made into a human-alien hybrid by "psyonic spores" by a mad scientist as a part of his plan to rule the galaxy. He goes from being a reluctant member of a resistance against this professor to being a wiling and fanatical champion who goes on a suicide mission to kill the professor. Reminds me of the Ace-Defiant, the only one of his kind becoming the champion of the killer of his people in revenge. Just a thought!
