The thing is, many people are not happy with what Bungie is offering. They want to like the game but it's got "xxx" and "yyy" issues. If Bungie wants them to buy the game, buy the DLC and promote the game to their friends, well Bungie has to meet certain expectations. For me it's no more Peer to Peer local hosting of any shared (Crucible, Strikes and Raids) activities. They've taken a step in that direction, but I still have doubts. Hopefully the beta play will prove they have solved most of the host advantage, host lag and IP Exploit issues and the game will be very improved over D1. If they have, great. If not, I'll find a new franchise to spend my Time and Money on. The important thing is we tell Bungie where they are failing and what will prevent us form buying their game. Without them we have no Destiny to play, and without us there will be no more Bungie.

  • So, they aren't happy with the tiniest bit of gameplay we got.

  • I can't speak for everyone, but if they had not clarified the Server Situation: https://www.pcgamesn.com/destiny-2/destiny-2-dedicated-servers I would not even try the Beta. I'm just not putting up Peer to Peer networking for Shared Activities.

  • We aren't getting P2P, we're getting a mix between both with a server for each activity. PvP will have its own server and so will every other activity. Play the Beta, try their servers.

  • Yes, we know that now. However Bungie never said anything about it until people started writing "Not buying it unless it has Servers", especially not the PC Crowd. Whether that's PR backpedaling or not, we will find out in the Beta.

I'm not really getting why people are assuming Bungie wouldn't have said a thing about dedicated servers at all, until people whined about it. This community has been complaining for a long time about dedis. Bungie almost certainly knew it was an important issue for some in this community long ago, so they were simply waiting for the right time in their schedule to answer our questions. I don't see it as PR backpedaling, it seems to just be them releasing information according to their own schedule.

  • Its not an assumption its how business works. This is standard industry practise, if they explain anything they're rattled. This had potential, however true or misguided to damage the bottom line, hence the vid. I highly doubt the vid is 100% what they're doing but its enough to diffuse a possible backlash. If you think this wasn't a response and was a planned release you haven't been gaming long. I'd bet Bungie has similar scripts for all D1's issues to be addressed when required. Damn thing must be like a telephone diectory :)

The way business works for a billion dollar company is that they plan out every last detail, and have multiple contingencies should things go wrong. That's how any good business with millions of dollars on the line acts. This idea that everytime Bungie responds to us it's some frantic, PR backpedaling and ass-covering is a bit silly. Not saying you said that, but that's the general idea that I see people have on these forums. Everything is scheduled down to the smallest detail. Everything they tell us, when they tell us, and how they tell us is planned strategically, especially in this day and age where everything you say is basically remembered forever, and can be brought up to bite you in the ass years later. The infamous "See that mountain over there?..." statement is a prime example of why things are planned so meticulously, and not just rattled off with no thought (usually). Any company worth their salt isn't going to simply run around putting out fires, addressing things, and backpedaling as they happen. They make a plan, time-release information, and anything that they didn't plan on the community freaking out about, they squeeze in information into their schedule if necessary. They only had an hour for a reveal, so they gave us the gist, and in these following weeks and months they will delve into all the little nitty gritty things that they know we care about because we tell them everyday; but that they simply didn't have time, or didn't plan to tell us at the reveal. They spoon feed info, not saying it's right or wrong, but it's Bungie. I've been gaming for decades, and been with Bungie since before h1, they have always been like this with info.
