I think rasputin then is very different to rasputin now.
Remember he was freshly woken and didn't have a clue who these people where and was openly hostile to guardians for centuries. It was only when we opened the array did he start to see us as none hostile
I agree. I could see him being a bit uncertain and wary. That said, he did know they had [o] energy so they weren't completely random and if he considered the traveler an ally at all, one would think he wouldn't be so aggressive.
My thoughts are that since I believe Clovis Bray built the warminds, and we see that while visionary, he was a very intense person that doesn't appear to be above achieving his goals over some casualties along the way, that he might have given rasputin a similar programming.
Rasputins goal was singular, and while in the interest of humanity, no one could get in the way, including guardians. So if a guardian came to take SIVA, and SIVA was the future hope for humanity, and rasputin was saving it for future colonization, then I guess he wasn't above a few casualties to defend it.
Knowing they had the travellers light, to Rasputin surely would have meant he was under attack. The traveller was stopped by Rasputin from fleeing, then guardians with the travellers light entered Rasputin. It I was Rasputin that would seem like retaliation to me
Rasputin never activated the protocols to prevent the Traveler from leaving. The Traveler willingly stayed to protect us. Rasputin is actually the one who bailed on mankind once he realized he couldn't stand up to the Darkness.
