I freaking love rotaries but if they do it will end up as a hybrid as that's probably the only way they can make it economical enough to deal with today's emissions. But as long as it's got that sweet sweet rotary sound I'll be happy. Maybe I'll trade my Z35 that doesn't exist yet in for one...
I found out something new this year.
In 1967 Ford experimented with a Wankel 2 rotor in a Mustang. The test car resides in the NATMUS Museum in Auburn, IN.
I can see them doing the hybrid route as well with the RX-9. Seems the way of all future performers to go.
Yep, I think a lot of companies wanted to try wankle, including GM in the vette. The patent for it was bought and sold several times in the 60s before Mazda made it happen. The philosophy behind the motor is great, but in practice it's not that great. I just love the sound they make.
