requiem for the american dream (long term interview with noam chomsky) i would highly advise watching it. we do live in a constitutional republic in the USA yes; but there are two options; you can have democracy and a government system interested in equality and public welfare or you end up with a police state so that those with power can gain more and inequality widens which creates a self serving government that doesn't care about public health or safety---> just the security of the wealthy's rights

We are a halfa**ed "democratic republic" at the moment. So, both terms apply. A lot of changes need to be made for our country to actually be democratic ourselves. It is a wonder why a mostly republic country is running around trying to spread democracy.
