Very nice. I believe toland has created a throne world of sorts for himself. I remember something about creating throne worlds one must die repeatedly and kill repeatedly to earn the right to exist
Toland studied death, real death not like what gardians experienced. In the hellmouth the darkness is too strong for a ghost to revive its gardian. So toland spent a lot of time dying in the hellmouth.
Being a sunsinger, he would be able to pull himself back to life with his radience, so he dies and revives over and over again. This is where bad juju comes in, a weapon that charges your super. All toland had to do was die, revive, kill a ton of thrall and repeat

True, but Bad Juju did not exist as a gun at that point in time. It is likely based off of a weapon that Toland was in the process of creating. In my opinion, that's the only way that the gun's frame could have found it's way into the hands of the Nine, who then gave it to Xur, who sold it to us in y1. Furthermore, my opinion is that Toland's advanced knowledge of/connection to the Darkness - or perhaps some power that he discovered in the Throne World - is the reason that his soul survived.
