The issue is that everyone will be running around as "risen", and the normal human/exo/awoken guardians will be a small amount. I would be fine if this was just another race at a cosmetic stand point, but definitely not a ability subclass only available to one race. And if u try telling me "everyone can have a race specific class", then that will most likely be the only thing people will run around with.

I see your point, and I'm sure that would happen if they plopped nagga007's idea into today's game. But, I do think there's an opportunity to go a radically different direction for sequels down the line, especially if participation in Destiny is lagging. It would take something dramatic to steer people back to the game.
