Since I loved playing the games. I'm actually interested in reading the books. I just would like to know in which order chronologically should the books be read.

You MUST read the books. It's like any book series then when they make movie of it , it never goes to par. Trust. Now If you talking about order... Jeez that's hard. I think just go by date released. The back and forth makes it more interesting. Story tho , I'm pretty sure I have them set up in story order on my shelf but it's not the easiest because some run perpendicular or parallel. Some stories span a few days while another goes before the date and after of another [spoiler]know what I mean?[/spoiler]
