I have wondered about this for alooonnnnnggggg time.
How is this not theft. We pay every year for content that they later just take away leaving us with nothing we actually paid for. Bungo is perfectly fine with this model and get upping this ability to take what we paid for. And for some stupid reason we keep saying thank you, please, here take more from me.
Its like car insurance. I pay over a thousand dollars a year, every year, for decades never getting anything out of it, not one dang thing. Happily never need to! This means I give them money with nothing expected in return. Is this not the definition of a charitable contribution? If so why can I not write it off on my taxes every year?!?!?!? They claim, sorry insurance is a paid service. But I have gotten no service from them. Last accident I had was the day the shuttle blew up. Sooooo
So explain to me how Bungo is not an insurance scam?!?!? LOL!!!

Legally, any gaming company can do it because of what's in their agreements. Most just know that it would be a PR and financial nightmare. Bungie are just that full of themselves they didn't think it would damage their brand.

Car insurance is a scam! When you look at the metrics of who gets into wrecks, it's astronomically tilted. Generally the same repeat offenders get into multiple accidents. 8 of my friends (we've all been driving +15 years) and only 2 have been in wrecks. 6 of us have not. The two who have been in wrecks? One guy has caused 2 and been hit once. Likely due to his negligence and lack of awareness. The other guys has wrecked 4 times, all of them his fault. Guess who else has the most tickets? Them. Two other guys each have one a piece. Those two? Multiple infractions and tickets. So why are 6 of us paying for insurance when we simply don't need it or have it? I could throw that money monthly into a portfolio and the interest it'd gain over time (modest 8%) would cover any wreck I could potentially cause basically out of pocket. You figure average insurance cost is $200/mo. That's $2400/yr. Over 15 years that's roughly $37,000 paid in insurance........ Now, with 8% interest annually....... That winds up being $65k........ And it's exactly what insurance companies are doing with your payments. But instead, YOU the individual could be holding that money. And btw everyone, 8% is the average return across America on a brokerage managed IRA......

Now what happens when you accidentally bump into a lambo and have to pay $200,000 for a carbon fibre bumper? Insurance isn’t a scam. Maybe in the USA but that’s not because the concept is bad, it’s because the USA lets insurance companies deny coverage way too easily.

When's the last time you saw a Lambo on the road? That fear is why people fall into the ponzi scheme that is car insurance. You do realize that insurance companies rarely payout AND reap insane interest of the payment they receive by investing the money, right? And that's my point. The statistical data shows the vast majority of drivers on the road as being safe and quality, while repeat offenders inflate the likelihood of an accident. Insurance should be optional, not required by law and threat of property seizure or prison.

Literally on my way to work the other day. I see cars that are WELL outside my price range to fix daily. Cars that cost several times my yearly income almost every day I go to work. Sure the 5 million lambo or Ferrari is only a few times a month but I see plenty of cars in the $500k to $1 million range almost daily. So you’re just wrong.
