They aren't going to shut down the servers most likely until a few years after the final DLC for the final game is released. Every feature of the game apart from the title screen is only available online, so it would be pretty shitty of them to do that this early. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they shut down the Destiny 2 servers before Destiny 1.

There are players but just not as many as people say there is. Mostly a lot of low level players in the open areas and high level players in the Crucible using old meta weapons.
