My brother (hardcore gamer) tried Destiny 2 on my wifes new character for a few days and wanted to use my app to make some points:
1. Metas are completely irrelevant due to weapon and gear imbalances.
2. Pvp is pointless in most games now as carry services have flooded the industry. Take the mode out completely as use the space for something with more sustainable and value.
3. There is nowhere near enough consistent fresh content for new players to want to join.
4. Who is this Destiny 2 catering, too? Has no direction or identity.
His overall conclusion:
"The gaming industry is struggling because they are trying to entice a new generation of players into their games. If I buy a new generation console or upgrade my PC and am expected to purchase a game regardless of edition, then I have an expectation that I'm playing on upgraded systems, and the game is constantly evolving with development teams that share the same passion and love I would for that game. Bungie, along with some other developers now, do not show this for their games, and it's becoming very obvious throughout their lengthy developments and delays.
Personally, if I were Bungie, I'd highly reconsider Destiny 2 being my priority game because there is no other game like it regarding gamplay and world building. From what I'm reading, if Marathon is trying to enter a pvp, hero shooter extraction type of genre, games like XDefiant and Fortnite have that covered. Marathon has a very high possibility of flopping due to the current state of Destiny 2 as the reputation of its main game does matter". Nothing more!
Thanks, Kane.

5 RepliesDo you know what my brother honestly said about the current state of things? His interest in the game is waning (hasn't really played since around Echoes began) for 2 reasons: 1. One of the biggest problems with Destiny right now is the community. Not the "toxicity" as so many seem to think of it, but those who endlessly complain because the game isn't exactly how they want it and won't stop until Bungie gives in to their petty antics. 2. The other big problem is the fact that Bungie will do just that with the foolish belief they need to keep those players happy without realizing it'll never end because they'll never be satisfied. To summarize, he's of the same opinion I am; the game is suffering because Bungie won't acknowledge they need to just simply cut that particular group of players loose and focus on making the game the best it can be for the players who will play more than they will whine.

Edited by ManamiSoma: 8/13/2024 8:33:59 PMHardcore gamers usually put in more hours into a game than anybody else. If your "brother" only played a couple of hours, his points are invalid. Have a nice day. Kind regards, Cheesuz Crust

2 RepliesNgl. Everyone of those points made no sense 1. Huh? If there's imbalances there's a meta. 2. Removing pvp because of a perceived flooding of carry services(which you don't know how often you encounter these types of people, you just don't) is just kinda dumb? This is an entirely feels based opinion. 3. How does a new player need a fresh stream of content when there's a decent sized backlog of content they haven't engaged with? Can new payers only play new content? 4. People say "no direction or identity" what does that even mean?

Metas are completely irrelevant... ok lol

These points sound from someone who played PvP for like 10 matches, none the less they’re right 🤷♂️

1 ReplyAfter hearing this at Starbucks, a man walked up to my brother, shook his hand, and told him "you have just help me with a break through." That man was Albert Einstein. Everybody stood up and clapped.
carry services have flooded the industry.
19 out of 20 LFGs I join are people selling carries

Edited by Duvain-4: 8/13/2024 1:14:54 AMRegardless of this "alleged" brother(yes i'm just leaning into the joke that others started), all points are valid. The direction is 0 currently for the game, but then again, they ended the story so... yeah. Kinda wish they would remember the long lost plot-line of the Nine attempting to get into our reality from their own to either dominate it or simply experience it as a few stated. Could have had Xur follow us into the Traveler post Final shape in a cutscene or something teasing him finally finding the power he needs to finish his masters' task. I could see that being a 2 year story arc. But, what do I know. Just a lowly player.

1 ReplyHi Kane. Half of your points sound like someone who’s played the game for about 3 hours and then stopped. Please never cook again. Love, Skibid Toilet

1 ReplyPvP can be entertaining if you enjoy it and has limitless replay value. Carry services don’t matter For a new player this game has so much content it’s honestly overwhelming and hard to find where to even start. The problem isn’t lack of content it’s the new player onboarding experience
-
Lmao because I really trust the opinion of someone who's played a few hours maximum, especially a self-proclaimed "hardcore gamer" If you're really gonna try to tell Bungie what to do and other players what to think you're better off taking your "hardcore" ahh elsewhere
