Trials needs help from the devs, we’re hitting incredibly low numbers each weekend and there was barely a bump in player pop even when TFS initially released.
-prismatic took over the playlist like every other PvP playlist, I truly believe the best option is to disable prismatic in trials/comp. It’s not competitive with prismatic, it ruins the integrity of these playlists. We all know the recent nerfs to prismatic hunter weren’t enough.
-the weapon meta is terrible, 340 pulses are far too easy to 2 burst with right now and they have a 0.67 TTK. Auto rifles and Khvostov are also still very strong.
-the LOOT IS TERRIBLE, people aren’t playing because the weapons aren’t worth playing for. All the best weapons currently are reprised ones (summoner, shayuras, eye of sol). We NEED some fresh new loot. Ideas: kinetic slot 140/120 hand cannon, kinetic slot slug shotgun, void rocket sidearm, rocket, 3-burst linear, eager edge sword. We don’t want lightweight bows, glaives, trace rifles, reskinned DMT scouts…
-special ammo system. This week going back to the 1 ammo every round + the crates has been awful. Everyone is back to running forerunner or hardscoping every lane with a sniper because there’s a surplus of special ammo. Too much shotgun or fusion ammo can be annoying too.
TLDR: sandbox is bad, loot is bad, trials population reflects that.

Edited by NaiRalumu: 8/15/2024 12:02:33 PMI completely agree with your points about Trials needing some serious attention from the devs. The current state of the sandbox, especially with the prismatic hunter and weapon meta, is definitely hurting the integrity of the playlist. Disabling prismatic in Trials/Comp would be a great first step toward making these modes feel truly competitive again. The loot situation is also a huge problem. Without fresh, exciting rewards, there’s little motivation for players to keep grinding. Your suggestions for new loot are spot on—we really need some innovative weapons to bring players back into the fold. As for the special ammo system, it’s been frustrating to see how it’s skewed gameplay. The return to 1 ammo every round plus the crates has made matches feel less dynamic and more predictable. Given the current state of Trials, I've started using services like Destiny Trials of Osiris carry service. It helps me stay competitive and enjoy the game even when the meta feels off. These services allow me to continue playing and having fun without the stress of dealing with the current imbalances. Hopefully, the devs will listen to the community and make the necessary changes soon.

Turns out eventually no level of loot will make causals accept being fed to sweats with the only rewards being a pity system of loot not as good as that the sweats are getting on top of getting to stomp those casuals.... This mode NEEDS to die; the model is inherently unhealthy to the playerbase. Better to divert the resources into one good Ranked mode of some sort (I am not saying Comp as it currently stands is the answer).

1 ReplyTrials isn't dying b/c of the meta. There was no loot refresh after a DLC drop and there is no incentive for non pvp mains to engage in trials. Game is a looter shooter that requires good loot. a single new weapon drop and a refreshed weapon isn't enough to get players to engage. The mode will never always have peaks and valleys unless they change the system of getting to the LH completely.

When the pigeons are gone….the game mode will die. The sweats have to sweat it out with the other sweats. Enjoy!

1 ReplyEdited by LadyGaladriel: 8/12/2024 11:28:29 PMTrials is dying? Well, good riddance! I tried to play in the past and I realized I was just cannon fodder. So, I stopped and never looked back, no matter the 'changes', or 'new loot', or whatever else they may have concocted over the years to entice more players to join that playlist. Nobody wants to be there only as cannon fodder. And nobody likes to be in a playlist notoriously full of very unfriendly self entitled elitists who never miss the opportunity to tell you how bad you are, that you are trash, unskilled, and all the repertoire we all know. Trials is dying you say? I wouldn't know, cause I will be dead before I'll every play it ever again. But, if that is true, they had it coming. If all the cannon fodder is gone, and they are the only ones left playing, what is there to complain? They got what they wanted, didn't they? All 'bad' players gone. They were 'trash' anyway, right? So why are they 'whining' now? Is it because they finally get to play only with the likes of themselves? Wait, what? They don't like it? Lol, if they don't want to play with their own kind, why should the rest of us want to? Maybe because all that's left is cheats and self entitled insufferable toxic elitists nobody likes? Guess what? Welcome to the suck! I hope Trials dies for good this time. And not a moment too soon.

Good, let the sweats beat on each other.
-
Good, it needs to go back to the drawing board and needs to be looked at
-
I’m okay with it dying. Pvp just diverts resources from PVE. There are full time PVP games available elsewhere that get much more support.

Edited by Franco-Nevada: 8/11/2024 10:26:20 AMDying? It's dead. An unplayable lagfest. Rarely competitive. Usually 5-0 or 0-5, because the matchmaking is so bad. But that's probably down to the fact that almost no one is playing it anymore. I assume that's why they forced us into cross-platform play which makes it worse, which makes even more people quit.

2 RepliesHence, a lot of players are not interested in Marathon.
-
4 RepliesI can tell you, it has nothing to do with the meta and everything to do with the playlist itself. The problem is the card system and the lack of loot.

That’s what they get when they don’t cater to casual players -
1 ReplyTrials never should have been brought back into D2.

Both trials and comp have been failed experiments from the beginning and bungie are fools for even dumping resources into it. They could dedicate the entire studio into it and it will still never be good enough for either the hardcore pvp players, which is an incredibly small group, or the casual playerbase. As much as no one wants to admit it, you need casuals to fill in the overall pool of players or you get where we are now with only a small group of players are the only ones to play. Even when the sandbox is deemed good AND the loot is good, the playerbase will never be there to support the mode. I can only think of 2 instances since trials inception in destiny 1 in which it happened briefly. The first was the literal first week it was introduced in d1. Not only was there a lot of hype surrounding the game in general, but no one on console had experienced really anything like it. For most, it was their introduction to a highly competitive environment. This new and shiny thing, with a new philosophical approach to playing for many, was enough to hook people right away. However, when the dust settled, they realized that the game mode just wasn't for them. Most do not wish to be hyper-competitive, regardless of the loot chase potential. The 2nd was when trials finally added the ability to simply matchmake and have it autofill your team. There were many that were spooked or simply annoyed they needed to go the extra mile of creating their own 3 stack. As much as people think it's pathetic to think getting 2 more people was too much effort, one of the reasons pathfinder is considered a failure to many is because you need to press a few too many buttons to get to it quickly. Both of these instances died out within weeks and never returned, though there were a few weeks spread in between that saw spikes due to either sandbox changes, new abilities, new armor, or bugs like the craft bug that broke everything. No matter what happens, trials always dwindles down to next to zero players then pvp players whine that it needs its 9 millionth overhaul that ultimately accomplishes nothing. It is a failed experiment that needs to be ended so the remaining pvp resources can be spent making it fun before branching out to niche segments of the community. A similar story can be told about the 900 different seasonal playlist activities, multiple different nightfall difficulties, 2 onslaught modes, etc etc. Bungie needs to consolidate resources instead of spreading them thinner with niche wastes of space.

Trials is dying? Good. Thinking bungie is actually going to do anything to address PVP / Trials is laughable. What fantasy world do you live in
-
2 RepliesTrials in an of itself is a bad playlist. Should never have come back.
-
4 RepliesYeah but like, who cares? Pvp is, was, and always will be awful.
-
Trials isn’t dead because of the sandbox. It’s the mode itself coupled with lack of incentive to keep its population numbers up. They need to either rework the mode itself in how lighthouse is achieved or need to heavily incentivize players enter the playlist and want to stay.
-
6 RepliesToxic players and horrible matchmaking made me quit the mode for good.
-
1 Reply🤞🤞🤞please please please let it actually die for real this time. This mode should have been left in the dumpster years ago. It’s an exhibition of all the worst qualities of the game.

8 RepliesEdited by madman: 8/10/2024 11:29:08 PMOh, I thought trials was only for "the pvp elite" and it's "endgame pvp so only for gods", that's what people keep saying, so those people can go and eat their own d*gsh*t then, can't see a problem here
-
I don’t think Trials is dying but I sure was while playing it🤣
-
Good. Let trials die.
-
It's not a trials problem. The whole game is.
-
2 RepliesThe whole game is dying 😂

I agree with about everything you've listed. Also wish they would take action against cronus and xims.
