I’ve been overweight all my life. Never have I ever been in a healthy state — and that means physically but also mentally. I started the hard 75 challenge the start of this month and have been walking everyday in the morning and fixing my diet and working on my mental health. It’s been really nice. Any tips and advice for health mentally and physically would be nice! or even just a little motivation (:

Mentally, think of it like building a house. Your foundation is set already, as it consists of all of the reasons you want to be healthy physically and mentally (i.e. family, friends, faith, career, etc.). Next you have to lay the layers of discipline and structure, but they have to be laid on the foundation of they'll fall at no resistance. After all is said and done, you can furnish and decorate, make it lived in you know, by using your newfound health and skills to improve your life. For workouts, just get adjustable dumbbells for your home. You should be fine with 20 lb max. Frasier Wilson has some good workout routines on YouTube for beginners and experts, so do those with the appropriate amount of weight for db training. I'd recommend running at least every other day, as it will increase your lifespan and make you overall less tired. If you want me to give you specific running workouts I can, but to start just run at least 3 miles.

1 ReplyI started working out again a year ago. I could barely do 20 incline pushups. This week I did four sets of 100 and I'm over 70. Just make a schedule of workouts or activities and try to stick to it. If you miss a day don't stress or act like it's a failure. Just do the next day. I'm a big believer in weight training. Last year I did curls with 8lbs. Got up to three sets of 100 and moved up to 12lbs. Now I'm doing three sets of 50 with 20lbs. Time and patience. Also muscle uses more calories just sitting than fat does. And one last weird one. You burn more calories when you watch sports.

Cardio is good but increasing muscle mass is just better. The more muscle mass the more calories your body naturally "melts".
couldn't think of a better word
-
10 RepliesForgive my ignorance, but what is the 'Hard 75 Challege?'

3 RepliesAll I can really offer is that I hope that you do well, especially when the weak moments hit. Have you decided on what course of action and type of food you are going to employ?

7 RepliesIf you want I can recommend a workout routine that doesn’t require any weights
