My apologies if this was posted to the wrong forum. I didn't see any category/sub-category that really fit this issue.
After not having played for a couple of days, I logged in to play Destiny 2 today and was immediately greeted with an in-game message telling me that my Bungie ID was changed to a generic looking "Guardian####" ID. The message told me that this was due to one of two reasons. Either this was my first time logging in or because I had changed my Bungie ID myself. Neither of those situations apply here. I've been playing Destiny 2 for over five years, using the same Bungie ID the entire time. I also did NOT change my Bungie ID on my own. Nor did I receive any email notification from Bungie that my ID was changed.
I've tried to change it back via logging in to my account on Bungie.net. However, when I click to save my changed settings I'm given the mesage "your settings have changed" but nothing else happens. The screen itself doesn't update nor does the actual Bungie ID. It remains the generic looking ID that Bungie has just randomly assigned to it.
Please revert my Bungie ID back to it's previously long standing form.

Hello there, A name reset to default like that means it was reported, reviewed by Bungie and reset to"Guardian####", that indicates that some part of the name broke the Code of Conduct or the Bungie Name Policy, was filtered, and can no longer be used. When that happens, you get the new name cross play message in-game as notice of the name change. You can try a different name if you have not previously changed it. If the system is not allowing more changes, there is no way to override it.

I suggest you pick a more appropriate gamertag.
