Need to learn the joys of having Elixirs of Immortality.
Down with mil! Up with W/B Lifegain!

Yeah, but EoM are only to safeguard against mil. The majority of decks won't have a specific place for it, it is unnecessary in 90% of matches. If anything it just boosts life but that card slot could better used to push for your win condition instead of useless life gain.

When against mil, you play to have something to counter mil. I don't run them at all unless its in the aforementioned B/W Lifegain (those things with Faithmenders, and various entities like Archangels of Thune/Divinity of Pride are bastards), but it pays to be prepared.

Edited by Jim the Admin: 12/25/2014 6:18:51 AMI can understand having them as insurance against mil. And maybe having them on hand to slide into your deck if you know that you'll be facing mill, but frankly I don't see the use in casual play. Cranial Archive is standard and allows me to draw a card, I use that to replenish my enchantments plus it gives me blind card advantage, kinda.

It's casual. Weird shit happens in casual. And the people I play against use lots of removal, so it's a good way to make sure things like the Faithmenders, or the Archangel, or Obzedat will eventually comeback.

I suppose it would work against basic control unless they get win condition before you can replay all your countered spells.

The decks I play against often only have the win condition of beating me down to zero. Which sucks for them, because the deck gains life virtually every turn. It works in my local pool. But, it's not the best. U/W is the best combination I think. Control, Lifegain, card advantage shouldn't be a thing.
