There's some things that the AMA mentions that weren't in the article, such as the faction backstories and the different starting points for each "race", but that doesn't contradict what was said in the Kotaku article. In a way it complements it. Where they talk about the same things, e.g. the clash of egos and creative differences, the AMA and the Kotaku article match up pretty nicely.

If you're saying nothing at all matches up between this reddit AMA post and the article Jason Schrier wrote on kotaku, then you either didn't read them or you need to go back and read them.

Look at all these fools that have been addicted to this game, and continue to play it over a year after its release and calling it a "failure". They drool for updates, DLC, new releases, new weapons, cry for more light, and then turn all angry towards Bungie when they don't get their cry baby way for a mission or perk they don't agree with. This game has had some bumps, but is hugely successful with a large fan base that's been going strong for months. I don't think Bungie owes any gamer a damn thing. If anything, the gamers entitled little bitch attitudes are a sign of them turning their backs on he developer. And all these same people crying foul at this game now will be devastated when Bungie is no longer releasing updates or content. I give credit to Bungie for trying to create a product to appease such a large group of elitist, entitled, cry babies. I couldn't do it, I'd just want to bitch smack everyone all day long.
