Tbh I'm excited for the competitive PvP. I feel like Bungie is about to do some special things with it and the competitive PvP is going to make people love destiny.
It's what Bungie's known for, why drift away from what you're best at?

Keep an open mind though, because you can't play the PvP until you've leveled up a bit and unlocked some key parts of your focus.

In the sense that the only thing people care about is the competitive multiplayer. So walking in, make sure you've made your peace with the idea of playing an APRG that is more than equally focused on PvE. Patrols, Strikes, Raids, Campaign.... That is the backbone of this IP. PvP shares the spotlight with PvE and that's perfectly fine.
