Exactly why did people hate SR3? I enjoyed the heck out of it!

It was pretty shallow compared to SR2, I mean in SR2 you have juxtaposition, you may be flinging feces at houses one minute but then you'd have to comfort a battered and bruised comrade who's been agonisingly tortured by a rival gang leading to you eventually having to do the kindest thing and putting him out of his misery... Whereas in SR3 when your best friend dies it's not even shown on screen, none of the characters are sympathetic and the whole plot is wrapped up within the first third of the game, the rest is spent cleaning up... You see where it felt a bit undercooked?
