Crack pot theory? Here's one. Firefight was created/designed using a user friendly dev tool that will eventually become an 'instance forge' in Destiny. Players can design their levels and place patrolling/defending AI throughout, similar to Starcraft II's AI patrol system. One can access these instances through a portal in the city Hub.
