you need a powerful pc if you are wanting to stream especially in high quality. I stream in 720p and have an i7 cpu. It only uses about 15% of it's power but other computers from people I've heard it sucks the life out of their processor hence the frame skipping and bad quality.

  • I too have an i7 and its a laptop. This is a very powerful machine, for being a laptop.

  • yeah I'm not sure laptops are best for streaming. what program are you trying to use to stream with? If it's flash media encoder that thing is hog on performance. Xsplit or what I use wirecast is much better. Having a custom built pc with an actual streaming card like the black magic pro built in is the best way to go if you want to get serious about live streaming. Your laptop might have the cpu power but the wrong capture card to make it work. Built in pci express capture cards work much better performance wise for streaming than say external ones.

  • I use the software that came with my Roxio HD capture pro. It allows live streaming.

  • yeah those are usually not that great for streaming even if they say they can. Just from the experience of being a hardcore live streamer myself for several years and seeing what other high quality streamers use most of them use a custom built pc with a build in card specifically designed for live streaming across the board . I don't think I've ever seen a 720p or higher stream use a laptop to stream. Especially if they are streaming pc games. If you can get it working awesome, but I don't know much about the roxio HD capture pro for streaming. One of my friends was trying to use his mac laptop with elgato game capture HD to stream (which has streaming capabilities too) exhibited the same issues you are seeming to have.
