Nightsworn sight can also be proced by picking void breaches. This isn't stated on the gun.
It also expirences damage fall off pretty heavily, like all shotguns. So between the exotic perk procing, buffing headshot damage and stepping in and out of damage fall off ranges, this will explain the variance in damage.
The truesight granted by nightsworn sight only lasts a couple seconds.

Thank you for the input. The Void Breaches activating the perk make sense since I was running Voidwalker. When Nightsworn is activate I don't see Truesight at all. Is this one of those things where you need multiple kills? I'm not seeing any red shapes through walls at all.

It's very brief. Should activate on 1st kill. But it only lasts for a second or 2.
