Please try restarting the game and clearing the download cache to resolve the problem:

On Steam, you can clear the cache by going to Steam>Settings>Downloads>Clear Download Cache.
If the issue persists, we recommend you look into your network settings on Steam to ensure that nothing is awry. Double-check that there are no updates or downloads happening in the background, or that any updates are not set to use the full bandwidth of your internet connection.

First of all, thank you for your quick response and the simple, concrete instructions to help resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the problem hasn't been resolved, even with a complete reinstall of the game. The disconnections continue to be almost immediate and persistent. I don't know if this is a problem that only affects Steam accounts (and I don't think even all of them), but it would certainly be worrying and annoying if it were to spread. It would be worth looking into further.

Not many, but this is another thing that drives me crazy. Anyone who has Steam works perfectly, and until three days ago it worked perfectly for me too. Why on earth, without any modifications to my PC, network, or game, does things have to break like this from one moment to the next?
