Honestly agreed, Im a returning player who hadnt played since lightfall and didnt pay attention to the game or the community until march, the break made me super excited to get on and get caught up with everything only to find out the state the community is in. Not that I blame them, Im not one of these naive people that wishes everyone could just be positive 24/7. A lot of things are valid and like you say the game cant seem to catch a break. I went back and got caught up with the whole chill inhibitor perk weighting fiasco, and the negative reception of Revenant, and now the explosion over rite of the nine, people are just fed up with this stuff and for good reason.
What really shocked me as a change between when I was last playing and now is that the game feels sick. People have always complained but the game has remained super active regardless. But now, the LFG channels for featured raids are slow, and in PvP you match the same people seemingly every game and queue times in rumble and quickplay playlists are the slowest they have ever been, much less in comp.
So its not just all talk, people are speaking with their activity on the game or lack thereof. At this point I dont even care what I want in the game, I want whatever will get people to play it again and talk positively about it again.

Other mmo games have a community spirit even in those downtimes. Long time players of this game aren’t typical or at all mmo players they’re casual shooter fans so when times like this happen (which is often) there’s a lack of anything. And if people are enjoying themselves other people feel the need to tell them why they shouldn’t be. Instead of just moving on with their own lives

Edited by ben: 5/18/2025 10:30:54 PMI agree with you Destiny being the sort of MMO-lite that it is is a doubled edged sword, because you attract hardcore players who want to grind forever and casuals and have to entertain them both because you dont really get one without the other Im more of a hardcore player and I think the game really needs a big shakeup right now, so I look forward to edge of fate with them saying that new weapons and armour are going to be totally novel and implying our old stuff will essentially be soft sunset. And I think this is good for casual players too because it just gives them unlimited stuff to do. One of the best feelings in this game imo is when you are just overwhelmed with new stuff, I feeling I remember having on week 1 of taken king and forsaken. But I worry how a refresh will go over with casuals. Many seem to be attached to their stuff. So I hope that a refresh doesnt make things even worse

They’ve slapped “mmo” on the genre tags, game systems and the front page on the website. But then they leave us asking for basic mmo features or stability while fighting off people who “don’t wanna play an mmo” It’s a head scratcher for sure, I have other games I. The genre I play so it’s not a problem I can play those games you know? But when I hop on destiny it’s almost the same. There’s just issues with the game/ community that need ironed out
