Everywhere else that I've seen people discussing the game it's been nothing but positive reception towards heavy metal, which has been a nice turn tbh.
So I had a thought to check this place to see if the forums were either a: in line with the rest of the community
or b: being pointlessly negative as usual.

I'm at rank 13, I've been playing a lot. Even when I lose I'm still having fun, and I'll tell you this, I've been mostly winning. So uh, maybe a skill issue on your part?

Nothing wrong with open critique on something new, but blind praise or blind hate isn't constructive. I personally Heavy Metal is extremely barebones and not at all worth it in its current state. However, it has promise if properly iterated upon, which sadly isn't so much Bungie's MO with events.

I think that there's definitely some things to be said about the mode, I think the lack of variety with only having really one map is an issue for example (of course, one that could be fixed if the positive reception for the mode results in further iteration) But that's not the kind of nuance people on here are using when talking about it, and I think we both know that.

You don't need to grind it, just take it at the pace that's fun to do. I do agree though. I think brigs controls are nicer to use, tanks feel unwieldy.

Some challenges do incentivise going out of your way to either intentionally throw or even leave matches and I've seen this multiple times in the game. They need to up the amount of rank xp you get from the actual matches, so that challenges don't feel mandatory to make any meaningful progress.

I have been playing no more than I want to and I am already rank 13 I know people who were rank 15 day one You really don't need to push yourself.

It just feels like it drags a bit when its only got 1 map and there is very little variety because of that. I do think they should at the very least remove the challenges that ask you to complete matches as tanks or brigs specfically because its entirely out of your control what you get, and on more than one occasion I've seen people quit early because they are not on the team they need for their challenge.

That I can agree with. I think given the positive reception the mode has gotten more investment and more maps could very likely be on the way, and yeah. The challenges that want you to play as specific teams are just poor design.

I actually heavily prefer brigs over tanks. Since they're taller they can get more angles over cover, and they feel a bit less unwieldy to control.

The people being positive about it on other sites is all Bungie employees. They don’t do it here on the forums because we know who they are.

Whenever someone says something like this, I can't think of anything other than "you know, if someone you disagreed with was saying these exact same things to support their side of the argument, they would sound unhinged" The only reason it doesn't sound unhinged to you when you say things like this is because you agree with it.

I don’t mind if not everyone hates them. Destiny has taken a big fall and from what I have heard, Marathon is going to be DOA. That’s enough for me. I don’t care if the game is good or not now. I am free to play only now. The last expansion I paid for was beyond light and the last season I paid for was season of the lost. They’ll never get another dollar from me. I’m just enjoying being a spectator to the circus.

Makes sense that you don’t like it then, game isn’t that great FTP, you kinda have to buy stuff. Hopefully it’ll get a bit better in the year of prophecy with more free events and seasonal content. But we will see.

I love the idea of the event, it's fun. But rewards are pointless except sparrow and tank movement is still unbearable
