In short: Yes, the servers are that slow. Slightly longer: 15 tick rate servers and p2p connections as well as PS sticking to an older protocol while xb and pc changed theirs about 3 years ago, which makes the crossplay desync a lot worse as a result. Add sbmm which does look for similar skill over a decent connection, a shrinking player pool due to bad meta / connections / increasing amount of cheaters... and voila, here we are.

    15 tick rate is -blam!- holy -blam!- A game other than destiny that has a 30- tick rate is apex legends, but.... they have a tick rate of *20*, yes, even though they have *ghost bullets* and other server issues, they have more than destiny 2 i understand d2 is an old game but this is just bad, absolutely terrible for those just reading, here's some examples: an example of a game with a good tick rate is overwatch 2, their tick rate is 63, if I'm not wrong I'm by no means saying it's a good or bad game, but their servers are decent Valorant has 128 *all the time* other professional pvp games like csgo can go up to 128 when there's tournaments , and down to 64 *regularly* their games perform more than 4 times better a l l t h e t i m e
