Remember we had legendary shards which had no cap? But we had to get rid of those because apparently new people are too dumb to dismantle purple items for shards. According to Bungie

They did it to essentially redistribute wealth. After that change the veterans and standard or new players have a much smaller wealth gap. Enhancement cores are pretty much my only “legacy wealth” now. That and my ultra emergency stock of rainmakers.

Im going to laugh so hard if they ever bring them back. Theyll probably try to make some "new" currency and call them mythical fragments or something. It'll be hilarious.
