Players logging on each week is more important to bungie than players playing for 168 hours one week and 0 hours the next week and the next week and the next week. What good in a live service game is players logging on and enjoying it for 1 week if they are nowhere to be seen for the next 2 months?

They will end up with that result anyway if they make the grind a joyless slog that burns out people's patience or enjoyment. And once they leave from burnout it's easier to just stay away for good
