I see it's not for you. I'm just asking why you're amazed people are playing a mode. Of course they're playing a mode.

There's some scummy stuff like usual, but the mode feels great right now. I gilded tonight, and for the 1st time I got Lucent Hive... I dig it. All those shriekers and Lightbearers... it changes the cadence of those maps. This is why I always wanted champions or real mini-bosses amongst the mob spawns. If not champs, how about some Wyverns and Tormentors?

You'd think every enemy type would be represented. And like Onslaught, Gambit could simply use Patrol spaces as new maps. I'm fine with Gambit mostly but there's obvious things the mode needs.
