i got restricted because i keep getting matched with players from all over the world

i was having bad pvp experience, due some latency problem, it got noticeable after this expansion, i have noticed this issue before but i never give it that much of attention. almost every time i play crucible or gambit i get some angry messages saying i'm lagging, which is true but they were lagging on my side too. i usually play other online games such as battlefield (server based online game) and never got any issues, so basically i thought it's something to do with some destiny networking bug. back to destiny, at first i wondered why are they sending me these messages in english, italian, latin and german when i live in a country that doesn't speak any of it, so i replayed back to some of them asking where they live, i was surprised that i got matched with europian and south/north american lobbies. after a while i got frustrated then decided to play only for my pinnacles, usually i leave extremely lagging matches, or stay at the beck and steal some kills so the game register my progress. as usual i checked my internet settings (download and upload speed, ping, open ports, DMZ, NAT, DNS, wires ... etc) and everything seemed fine for my 50 Mbps fibre optic line. anyway few weeks ago i got restricted for 2 weeks from crucible and gambit. so i asked my friend if i can borrow his modem called Netduma, it has good reviews for gaming settings. but all i wanted is the main feature: showing my lobby location. so here are over 50 crucible matches results in a youtube playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBKf0PER1_aUV5ErHrYX8B3wUcIH2SVDp and an additional 15 gambit matches: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBKf0PER1_aXIrlknkkJlnyTnRH_kYCKZ as you can see almost none of the lobbies were in my region, also i added trace routing results to show how bad the routing is: https://imgur.com/a/JsjUxzN and here's how the match looks like to my end https://youtu.be/gU_Dqds1_TQ of course i blurred all other players information, i also contacted bungie through the claim page. why i'm restricted while the problem is the matchmaking system it self? i can happily leave crucible all together if there were no catalysts tied to them. so please can someone talk to me about this issue.
1. You have two supported platforms linked on this profile, which specific platform are you primarily playing on? 2. Do you get any error message? 3. I see you are using a NetDuma GEO filter which can cause connection problems. Can you connect to Destiny 2 without a GEO filter to see if that solves your problem! How to add a PC game not listed on the Geo-Filter' http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000092094-how-to-add-your-gaming-pc-to-the-dumaos-geo-filter Destiny 2 Geo-Filter settings http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000095693-destiny-2-geo-filter-settings
NetDuma - GEO Filter for Destiny 2 https://forum.netduma.com/topic/32146-geo-filter/page/3/ #################################### Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
1. A wired connection is recommended to play Destiny, and if your connection is being used for other things when playing the game, such as streaming, it's recommended to quit those programs. 2. Clearing your console cache or, if on PC, verify the integrity of your game files. 3. Power cycling your internet router 4. Review our guide on improving latency and packet loss to see if that might help 5. Following our Network Troubleshooting Guide for best optimizing your connection to Destiny. If issues persist, try our Advanced Steps Networking Guide for possible router solutions, such as enabling UPnP. You may also want to enable IPV6 on your router if you have it. If you have a decent router there is really no reason to enable port forwarding. All you really need is UPnP enabled. If you are using port forwarding, then the only way for it to work properly is the computer or console you're playing from needs to have a fixed IP address. 6. You may want to change your DNS server on your console to Google's Nameservers (8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4.) 7. Contact your internet service provider to see if there are any issues with your connection. 8. Using DSLReports.com I would suggest running several speed tests to see what your actual up/down speeds are coming in at. On DSLReports.com you can also test packet loss and jitter. I would suggest running these tests multiple times as well. Feel free to report back the connection test results you got at dslreports.com for speed, packets, and jitter.
DSLReports Speed Test https://www.dslreports.com/speedtest World Ping Test https://www.netmeter.co.uk/tools/world-ping-test/ ################################ What Can I Do About Bufferbloat? Bufferbloat is high latency (or lag) that occurs when there’s other traffic on your network. Here’s what you can do: Tests for Bufferbloat Does the quality of your web browsing, voice call, or gaming degrade when someone’s downloading or uploading files? It may be that your router has “bufferbloat” - unnecessary latency/lag created by your router buffering too much data. If the tests below show high latency (say, above 50 msec), read our recommendations at What can I do about Bufferbloat https://www.bufferbloat.net/projects/bloat/wiki/Tests_for_Bufferbloat/ Eliminate Bufferbloat in your Network… There are lots of ways to throw money at this problem. Most won’t work. Your ISP would love to sell you a faster connection, but link speed isn’t the problem - it’s your router buffering more data than necessary. Buying an expensive router (even one for “gaming”) won’t necessarily help, since most commercial, off-the-shelf router manufacturers are clueless about Bufferbloat. Twiddling the router’s QoS might make a difference, but it’s a hassle, and only helps a bit. Instead, you are going to have to take charge. Once you fix it for your own network, it’ll stay fixed for all time, and you won’t be subject to changing practices at your ISP or other vendors. https://www.bufferbloat.net/projects/bloat/wiki/What_can_I_do_about_Bufferbloat/ ################################ Required Ports for Steam https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8571-GLVN-8711 STEAM: Verify Integrity of Game Files https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335 Optimizing Connections: Improving Latency and Packet Loss https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049024092#Latency Network Troubleshooting Guide https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049496531 Advanced Troubleshooting: UPnP, Port Forwarding, and NAT Types https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049496751-Advanced-Troubleshooting-UPnP-Port-Forwarding-and-NAT-Types

      • I can agree with you on that, peer to peer is the reason and lack of dedicated servers are needed. Last week I was given a ban restriction for 2 weeks from playing crucible or gambit. I will say that I have satellite at 40mb down 1-2 up at the time I was given the ban after having played a match of gambit to complete my salvo ornament, luckily I finished just before being banned. Still no idea why I was banned restricted as i was simply just banking motes to get the ornament. Also i am hard wired to my net don't own a PC, and just a PS4 is connected to it, also I live in a rural area so no internet is available other than satellite or wifi hotspots and if someone replies with just move and get better net during a covid 19 epidemic and risk getting infected to just play a game your out of your mind. Now I respect this game have been here since Destiny 1 Alpha and over 5000 hours allotted over D1 to current season D2 I respect the rules and try to avoid playing game types like gambit or crucible and Never Play Trials unless I'm going for a weapon to get for collection, as I know I do not have fiber internet I try not to ruin the 1% of players in the game mode. But to be banned for 2 weeks over something so petty as banking motes for a quest that is part of the season i paid for is insane. Not to mention Bungie made seasonal weekly challenges that Require you to play gambit/crucible to get in game currency and for quest reward objectives to be completed. I think the penalty is way to unforgiving given the circumstances and should reduce those bans on people who have not so great internet or if servers kick you or if mother nature strikes lightning down on a tree that cuts off your power which then gets you penalized for quitting mid match down to a day worth of ban. It's not like we are cheaters or anything of that nature, we just do not have the best internet on the planet. I hope when bungie expands their offices we get dedicated servers but honestly doubt it, and I worry that my next ban restriction is going to be 2 months for whatever reason it may be that I pray never happens as this was the second offense over the entirety of my destiny career and as a console gamer who never owned a pc. Again a little off topic but still on topic about how there servers can affect anyone.

        • Im suppose to enjoy iron banner, gambit and other activities but this unstable stuff is messing with all my fun. They would have to notice this by now right? I miss raiding with my friends and I dont want to be a problem if it disconnects me just like that.

          • are you on a PS5 by any chance? I got an in game warning on this the other day, and did a post about it, got some people blaming my ISP I don't think that is the problem, the problem is there are so few players on PS5, and Bungie's new hybrid architecture I have a Netduma router that shows where the connections are when I'm in a lobby, the server is always in the US, even though I am in Ireland I can sit in the tower and open the roster and watch my connection bar go really bad as people join the tower, and then get better again when they leave It's really annoying for me to be getting a threat of a ban for a game I've played since 2014, when the issue is the server architecture, and lack of player population. I suspect what happened was I was reporting people in game for their poor connection, and some admin looked into my reports, and slapped me with a warning on my poor connection. If the population on PS5 is that low, it's a Bungie and Playstation issue, not mine, I have really good Internet, and a good gaming router that is capable of maintaining QoS at my end.

Same thing here. Got restricted right after a gambit match right before trials with the adept hc came out, and so I am not able to get it which sucks. One interesting thing to add might be this: https://imgur.com/a/Q4wYJqy It shows how D2 kills my connection lately. I never had connection issues until maybe 1-2 weeks ago.
