Some players have worked tremendously hard for their stash of cores
Yes... They did. At the expense of simply playing what they wanted, when they wanted... Unless they actually wanted to do boring Spider bounties, got lucky with drops to dismantle into cores or matterweave, or played "Space farming simulator 2019" with Vance.
My entire point all along has been that Cores for infusion was only introduced with Forsaken. Before that, no-one asked for infusion to be more "meaningful". No-one said, "Hmmm, I really wish it was harder to infuse, it's too easy right now."
It's a case of "If you build it, they will come". And by that, I mean that sure, Bungie introduced it, so now that's just the way it is, and some people are ok with that, so everyone else should be too.
No.
You're only justifying this unnecessary change because you blindly accepted it, and invested your time into an economy cooked up to inflate game time... And simply because you have that disposable time, you feel everyone else does too, and should simply think and feel like you too... That the only way you should be able to play this game is by investing inordanat amounts of time into it... Like you.
No.
If you want to have a player base large enough to sustain the longevity of the game financially, large enough to sustain matchmaking, large enough to sustain LFG, large enough to support future DLC and sequels, you need to cater to all types of people, not just those playing 4-5hrs+ every day.
For reference, I've put in over 3,000hrs between D1 and D2.
I was not "hardcore", but also was not "casual".
I know I'm going to cop a lot of flak for this, as I usually do, but as this is what killed the game for me, I'm going say it.
Masterworking should be reserved for Cores AND made more "meaningful".
I've muted a lot of you, so if I don't respond, now you know why.
But I'll say this.
I'm never touching D2 again. It's ruined for me.
Yes, I quit and am still lurking the forums... Because this game was my main (D1 and D2).
It was where I built a community of friends.
Where I have my best ever gaming memories.
It's a shame.
And maybe, I'm just here because I'm salty... Sure... I'll own up to that.
But I also only come here when I'm bored... To exercise my right to comment on a public forum... Like everyone else here.
So you don't need to like what I'm saying, or agree with it.
You didn't even have to read this, but you did.
Yes, my opinion may be different to yours, but I'm not attacking anyone who feels differently, because whatever makes you happy isn't my concern... You do you.
This is just my personal opinion.
Don't let it trigger you.
EDIT:
I've been attacked mercilessly in the past when I tried to be constructive and civil.
Every time I try to have a balanced discussion I've been shit on from a great height.
That's why I said what I did.
Why should I be the one to constantly be all "gently gently" for the elitists?
This bullshit about "I'm attacking people" is preposterous...
This is my response to the elitists among us.
If you're not one of them then this isn't aimed at you.

While simultaneously claiming you're not attacking anyone. This is why no one takes you guys seriously.

Didn’t read but I assume you are crying about cores, which are fine an easy to obtain. Good job!

Edited by Wes: 5/15/2019 4:29:10 PMI have 350 cores and 40+ masterworked items. 2 weeks ago I only had 200 cores. Got the 150 from farming Reckoning for a Spare Rations. Curated rolls give 7 and legendaries drop like crazy. Got all my cores by playing how I wanted when I wanted. No glitching. No exploiting. Yes, people have felt like they had to give up playing how they want to get cores. However, that does not mean EVERYONE has. And also, to those who did the grind to get their cores, belittling their effort and time investment such as you have is inappropriate and unwelcome. Have your opinion, but don't belittle others in the process. This is a place for discussion. Not a single time in my post did I justify the existence of cores in infusion either. Only said with the people who have honeslty grinded for a large amount of cores, reverting back to the old economy would make cores feel like pocket change. We need more uses for everything in general. Glimmer, shards, cores, etc. We have yet to have a strong, busy economy in Destiny. Step 1 to that is options to spend the currency on. Once you have all the options, then you work on Step 2: availability of the currency. These two things establish value. All my post did was address Step 1. You probably won't reply, so have a good one.

Pretty sure "Two wrongs don't make a right" applies here. This cycle of toxicity present in these forums is because some "elitists" advocate for content "casuals" don't like and then disrespect on the other's opinion in the process. Then, a "casual" advocates for content "elitists" don't like and then dumps on their opinion on the process. Then the two sides of the community split and do nothing but disrespect each other and hold some sort of online prejudice. The playerbase is more concerned about this split and pointing fingers than actually coming together and realizing they're all here for the same reason: improving a game. If you can be so civil and reasonable, then do it. No reason to continue the cycle. These forums should be a place for discussion; not pointing fingers at and disrespecting the side of the playerbase you don't align with.

These forums don't reward civility. I didn't "attack" anyone individually. I posited the reality of the situation. You have been very selective in how you have responded to my post, only cherry picking out one theme, where I pointed out the reasons/scenarios that those against removing cores from infusion have thrown at those who support their removal. Take my critique out of it to do with the who and why of those who didn't see an issue with introducing cores for infusion and the mundane tasks around acquiring cores. Let it stand on the facts then. Cores for infusion were introduced with Forsaken. Simply saying "Bungie made it that way, so shut up and accept it" is the pro-core argument as well as the "Getting cores is easy", "Learn how to infuse properly", "Put in the time" etc etc. These arguments are solely happening because Bungie changed the way we play the game, and we now have a community split because of this fact. Bungie themselves have caused this, unintentionally or not. If you think for one second that anything remotely like cohesion can be reached on these forums, then you're vastly more optimistic than I. I have nothing against people personally who like cores for infusion, but when those of us speak out against it, we are spoken down to and dismissed like we're not intelligent enough to understand the concept. We're never going to fix anything here, and most of us won't ever agree. I'm done discussing this.

You completely missed my point, but sure. You do you. Have a good one.
