Shotguns are not crutches and absolutely take skill, much moreso than lunas at least on console.
I main snipers myself and I can still recognize the skill behind using a shotgun against good players.

Shotguns do absolutely NOT take more skill than lunas/nf. OHK anything other than snipers takes less skill than those two guns. You shoot people once in the body sometimes followed by a melee? At least with luna you have to shoot at them 3 times, more if they are strafing.

You’re forgetting the part when you get close enough to someone to shotgun them. You can’t just run in a straight line and slide shotgun like most people say, if you do that you will probably just get gunned down by a primary or teamshot or something if the person you are against has any awareness. Also, when it comes to shotgunner vs shotgunner, the better shotgunner will always win. It is a question of awareness, reaction time, and ability to aim under pressure. I play friendly scrims with my friends often and the skillgap between a good shotgunner and a bad one absolutely shows.

You could make that argument about a good luna user vs a bad one though. No one just stands still for you to get the optimal ttk. A lot of people seem to leave out the dustrock wardcliff part of the tryhard loadout and only focus on luna/nf for some reason. Either way the game could use a new meta at this point and they did nerf shotguns enough to the point where their not completely absurd like they used to be so Im happy with that. Wonder if the luna nerf will have roughly the same effect. And your right shotguns do take skill but I just disagree that its more than any multishot weapon. Yeah you have to get close but with luna you have to maintain a really weird distance and if you do get close... shotgun to the gut.

There arent many maps where you end up shooting people from more than 24 feet away the majority of the time.
