My group just hangs on middle platform, all the enemies teleport up there as long as no one goes down to the other platforms and we haven't ever failed the easiest forge yet (more likely because we are 650 now). You never need to leave the middle platform, and having your friends all around you means you can consistently support each other. In short, I disagree with you, but have not played with randoms on the new one (yet).
