Those reboots are not due to deaths. Exo minds need to be rebooted when their minds get too cluttered with past memories.

Which leads me to think how dumb that part of the lore is. To kill a Guardian, just shoot the ghost? These big bosses were doing it wrong and much more complicated it seems.

This is exactly why Fireteams exist, to protect each other's Ghost from getting shot as revives happen.
