People like country just like someone likes metal. What i do not understand, however is why this redneck-looking kid i saw a few weeks back in a huge, jacked up dodge ram dually, sitting at a red light blaring Kenny Chesney as loud as he possibly could. I get it, some people like country music. It's not for me, but hey, to each thier own. But how can anyone like country THAT much to blare Kenny Chesney like that? lmao
To answer your question- lots of people. That's why it is established as a genre. Unlike modern pop which gains traction through promotion, country music has stuck around a while and it has it's own following. While some may see it as mentally vacant, so is most music. The problem arises when those same people try picking up a guitar and cashing in on the "stupid country music." It is an art form just like any other.
