I still dont know how to get legendary shards and havnt infused 1 weapon or gear lol. Honestly I love everything in D2 but this infuse system. Like I want to use my exotics but there light level is too low. Btw im level 20 215 light and I still dont know how to get shards to infuse my exotics up or anything for that matter. I personally would rather have d1 infuse at this point. I dont understand why they made these shards so rare to get and why I cant use gear and weapons I want to use cuz of new infusion system. Everything else in D2 is PRIMO though.

  • The shard are from legendary iteams that you dismantle you mainly get 3 at a time per weapon.

  • You have to break down legendary gear to acquire legendary shards. The infusion process is basically the same though. You just have to have that type of weapon instead of any primary or any secondary. So as an example: If you have a 200 HC and a 230 HC you can infuse the 230 HC to make the 200 HC a 230 one, but if you have a 200 HC and a 230 scout rifle you can't infuse the scout into the HC. Kinetic or energy damage doesn't matter though. Also, little tip. Don't infuse armor until around 260, and only infuse a legendary weapon if you REALLY like it.

  • Thanks alot! That just really helped me big time. I played around with it and totally get it now and have 15 shards. Also the weapon types have to match and that one had me stumped til i read your post so thanks!

Also - if you use a blue ( rare ) weapon or armor as infusion fuel it costs 4 shards, but using purple ( legendary ) gear only costs 1 shard... so think ahead

  • Net is the same. Infusing a legendary only costs one because you would get the other 3 from dismantling it. Just for reference, you get more than 4 from an exotic which doesn't cost anything to infuse into something so it's actually a net loss in shards (infusing exotics that are above 265 into something would be the exception where it's worth it though since drops above that are rare).

  • So actually the legendaries cost 4 shards if you include the ones you would have gotten from dismantle.

  • Be careful when using your legendary shards though because they are also xur currency if you weren't already aware.
