Supposing that without the DLC the level cap is 34, does that mean that anyone without the DLC also cannot buy Weapons or Armor for the Vendors, use Y2 versions of Exotics, or use any Legendaries from Engrams/PvP drops? That would be very frustrating, lol.

 • The y2 exotics require level 40.

 • That's an immature way to look at it, lol. I don't have any problem getting the DLC, however I'm not about to commit to buying a DLC they put out for Destiny every ~3 months if I have to assume that without buying every current DLC I won't even be able to purchase things from Vendors, use items from Engrams, etc. It's not that I "deserve" new content, but cmon, whatever reskinned Armor the Vanguard sells this DLC is -barely- "new" content, it replaces old content without any replacement.

 • I agree with you, I did word it pretty poorly sorry. They shouldn't force people into buying new content. By making vendors only sell new gear, there should be a section for old gear to

 • Armor no longer determines your level. The way you level up to 34 or 40 is 100% XP. So players without TTK will be locked at level 34 but will still be able to buy armor at the tower. Players with TTK can level up to 40 and will be able to get better armor with higher Light Levels to increase their over all damage and defense.

 • No offense, but how do you figure? With every DLC, players couldn't get previous DLC Armor or Weapons, which implies Bungie doesn't want or can't make room for multiple sets of Armor per Vendor. I.E., do you really think each Vendor will stock both Lv34 and Lv40 armor and Weapons?

 • I don't mean vendors will have different gear for lvl 34 and 40. I mean TTK players will be able to get better gear because they will have access to all end game activities which will drop said gear. When TDB came out, dlc owners level cap was 32 whereas those without could only get to 31. Ditto for HoW, levels 34 and 33 respectively. Bungie also explained in their tower twitch reveal 3 weeks ago about armor no longer determining your character level. So taking the statement you posted, all player level cap will be level 34. And all TTK players will cap at 40. So when TTK drops, whether you buy it or not, the highest level your guardian can possibly be right away is 34. If you do buy TTK, you can continue to level up to level 40. If you do not buy it then you will be stuck at level 34 and will not have access to any new content. If, for whatever reason, you aren't a fully leveled up guardian when it does drop, you can continue to level up to 34 via XP.

 • Not sure there ... though if a level lock can be used to lock you out of content that you have already purchased - I don't see why it couldn't be used to lock you out of using certain gear too.
