I think one big point that was missing in that article was bungie's attempts to slow down progression with radiant mats and vendor commendations are really annoying.
Firstly, thanks for making my 300 and 400 ascendant energies and shards useless!
And secondly, thanks for filling my inventory with more crap and not increasing vault space!
I really want them to allow us to trade in ascendant mats for radiant mats. 10:1 sounds somewhat reasonable. My 400 ascendant becomes 40 radiant. I can handle that since they are 100% useless right now...

House of Wolves vanguard gear will probably require Ascendent shards/energy.

Yeah but by that time you'll have all TDB's raid gear and bungie has stated that HoW's vendor gear won't invalidate TDB's raid gear so yeah...those shards/energies are still essentially useless.

True. I'm still saving my shards/energies. Why not? I'm not blind to the fact that they may very well end up being useless. Maybe, just maybe though...

Seriously. Why are commendations needed? They only increase the grind!

It was a temporary wall so most players weren't 31 on day one of the DLC. Which a fair amount of people still hit 31 that day/evening anyways. Now they are worthless. I think I have 8 in my vault.
