Bungie's Destiny longevity + my thoughts

how exactly is Destiny going to last ten years? when in 10 hours I've completed the story, done a fair few real-time events, grinded patrol missions, and created and joined a fair few fireteams. Is their plan to make a heap-load of DLC? I know it is a big game but I feel this is an illusion, yes you can go on 4 worlds but 4 worlds isn't many in the comparison of the vast amount in space and real life. it seems like it's limiting itself, add a few new races (enemies and a couple new playable races, make them different and not just their head that looks different). add a few more gun types (swords would be great as I thoroughly enjoyed the use of that sword on the moon level, after I got used to the controls.). the Garden was built up to be some epic thing but it just looks like a small piece of the film Labyrinth. I mean this was the only thing that made me go wow aloud but when you go down their it leads to through a set path (aka the worst-easy maze ever) building you up for what feels like the greatest-worst mistake you kinda-want-to-not-make-before-you-make it-kinda-thing but are hugely let down but the easiest boss fight in the history of bosses I mean on normal mode during that chained boss Cyclops was a pisstaker of a boss. and the ending, kinda made you feel unimportant and just a generic NPC (which if they plan to do more could be an epic build up to the next part of the story... *thought you revived the traveller, think again this was only a small part in the many steps necessary to truly push back the darkness and revive the traveller.*) I've not fully immersed myself in the online side (namely the crucible) cause I was focusing on the story and somewhat co-op. I feel like this is a culmination of Souls series (in the sense of the distantly isolated online feel), Mass Effect (you are a revived Shepherd but less badass and a somewhat Normandy) Star Wars (the magic force type thing, lazers, the vehicles the worlds...) Star Trek (the music, some of the ailiens and worlds and other elements.) Borderlands ((the 2nd instalment mainly)for obvious reasons) and a few other things, which is a great thing shame it isn't like those games in that the story and diversity that those have. I do look forward to seeing how they plan to make this last 10 years? B1 is on it's 7th year, Demon's Souls is on it's 8th year n so on....

Was just reading about the 10 year plan and really really like the idea of that. Why release a new game every couple of years when you can release one base game and expand it constantly? The mechanics of the game are great, just keep adding content, new worlds, new maps, new gear, new story lines, increased level caps etc, all while keeping the same characters and not having to start over every time destiny 2 and destiny 3 come out. This is a great way to run a game, easy for Bungie to support and upgrade, easy for me to buy in to and look forward to new content in the long term. I've not seen many complaints about the game mechanics, more about the story or lack of content, those are easily fixed. The gameplay is superb, the gun mechanics, the physics, the levelling up and loot systems. Long live Destiny I say!
