So all three have to hit the panels? I’ve completed the dungeon before and I know for a fact I didn’t hit a single panel. I was just following the guy who looked like he knew what he was doing.

There's no mechanic in any dungeon requiring all members to participate. They are all designed to be done solo. I assume you are speaking of the second encounter, the first boss. There is no need for you to hold a door except to let people IN from the center when you start. One person can do all the panels but you also won't interfere if you try doing the panels in a different room.
