The way it is being back to its original function is a big L on Bungie. It was a huge QoL to have it so coming out of the Vault and back to inventory with Vaulting mode turned off was a win. When I pull something from my vault it's with the intent to equip it, not immediately put it back in. It's common sense (a lacking trait at Bungie) that when you take something out of something for immediate use, the default response in life isn't to put it back immediately after retrieving it to where it came from.
Edit: If someone at Bungie reads this, if the reasoning for it being defaulted to storage when exiting the vault is someone may accidentally equip an item they didn't mean to and lost all their ammo, screw them. The point of pulling stuff out is to make a build. If they unintentionally lose their ammo as a result while they're mid-encounter, they can farm more ammo because they came into it with a make-it-up-as-I-go-along strategy.
No one is retraining their brain for this because it's naturally ingrained in everyone from infancy! You pick something up, and the only reason you put it back, is because you're done using it or you realize you don't actually need it. You are fighting a basic harmless instinct developed at the early stages of life.
For all the DEI stuff and charity work you do, you're a stain to them for the stupid and immoral stuff you do. Like the repeated artwork theft.

My in game vault is still broken. I can’t place or pull. I have to use a 3rd party software

1 ответI'll be honest....I couldn't play at all without DIM

1 ответИзменено (Wargodmini): 1/18/2026 1:55:01 PMI would cuss and curse a lot less, if when I take something out of the vault, it equips the item when I press, instead of store 🙄🤦♂️

1 ответIt’s beyond frustrating, it makes me so mad that Bungie are incapable of anything remotely approaching common sense about simple QoL issues. Then again these are the people that gave us the Portaloo. 🙄

It’s mad annoying😭 Even stays in vault mode after exiting completely out of menu, like why? Sometimes I just need to quickly pull something out and equip it but muscle memory is like nah, you’re gonna have to pull it out of the vault again. Controller menus are already slow af and extra clicks just slows me down more, even if I remember to turn off vault mode. When I access the vault (d-pad up on controller), I don’t want vault mode to toggle on. LET ME CHOOSE when I want to toggle vault mode on.

1 ответThey said some people liked it and quickly wrote it off as one less thing to fix.

Agree 100%

2 отв.Its infuriating to take something out of the vault, and go to equip it, only to put it back in the vault. Equip should be default, and store should be the toggle option ALWAYS! I was happy that they fixed it before, and then dumbfounded that it was back to being WRONG this season.

Изменено (PK_Haseo): 1/17/2026 1:32:37 AMAgreee 👍 - I was literally commenting on someone post about this very same issue. Mind-Fog hits hard when you’re in a hurry leveling up fast, grinding or playing with friends on a mission but then you equip the wrong weapon you just sent to the vault without saving your new loadout while loading into a Raid, GM, Mission or Crucible (oops, where my new pew pew I wanted to try out -swapping loadout is disabled 🫤). Can I get a Yellow or Green notification on screen saying “Send to Vault” (aka store mode) is “On” & Red or Orange when it’s “Off” :/ it’s hard to tell if “Send to Vault” is enabled because I play on HDR 100% when I play other games and D2 screen is always has a dark tone (in-game settings doesn’t help)…and add a Red ❌ notification over a weapon/gear/item when deleting or confirmation saying Yes & No I like to delete this item (default selection on No, yes I know you can lock a weapon or armor but when farm 100x you forget you have 2 g-roll & 3 to delete).

2 отв.Just for clarity in case Bungie is reading : the current vault access is BROKEN. There used to be 2 separate buttons, one would only Store things, one would only Take things... The current Store button still works fine, but the Take button allows me to take an item from the vault, then FORCES me into Store mode when I exit the vault. If I try to equip the item I just took, it will inadvertently Store that item back in the vault. It makes no sense that we're being forced into Store mode, when our intention (by pushing the Take button) is clearly to TAKE... Its a waste of time / QoL that we have to toggle OUT of Store mode, when we never even toggled IN to Store mode in the first place. On top of that, if you try to just back-out of the character screen entirely, till you see your ship in orbit... then re-open the character screen, its sometimes STILL stuck in Store mode ! This feature is obviously NOT working as intended & needs to be fixed.

Part of the problem I see is the labels are backwards, Equip puts stuff in the vault and Vault will change what your wearing. It is Bas Ackwards. When in vault it should automatically change to deposit item and when not in the vault switch back to equip items. That works, makes sense, and is easy to understand. As it is I get something from the vault, then leave the vault all the way back to my ship, open my character screen, which is set to equip and boom item returns to the vault. Big pain in the -blam!-!

1 ответLol. I also do it all the time. Pull something out with the intention of equipping, then I throw it right back in the vault, because I forgot vault mode doesn't untoggle automatically. 😅

This! Nearly every time I pull something out the vault in a hurry like at the start of a crucible match I end up putting it back in the vault instead of equipping it!

I love the feature but yes it is annoying how the toggle stays on
