A Destiny Wishlist

I must preface this by saying I do enjoy destiny, and will continue to play the game, but it could certainly use some tuning. Also it’s worth mentioning I primarily play PVP, and most of my destiny experience comes from D1 Balance I take little issue with the balance of most weapons and abilities. However I think special weapons are overtuned and overly prevalent in the current state of pvp. --First thing I think needs to be changed is the special ammo economy. 90% of the time you're playing pvp today you'll likely have an abundance of special and be able to run double special weapons no problem as long as you get kills with them. I find that this all leads to a really toxic metta state where you can't be punished for using a special in most if not all your engagements, and it can be extremely difficult to compete with anyone using a "special weapon" with a "primary"(a lot of this also comes down to some unfortunate map design). Some ideas: -I think the easiest and possibly best solution would be disabling scavenger perks in pvp. after all they're the cause of there being such an abundance of special ammo. -If the community or bungie really wanted to leave it in I think scavenger could be changed along with changing how special ammo is dropped. In this system without scavenger you would pick up half of the ammo they had rounded up so they had 1 ammo you get 1, they had two you get one, they had three you get 2, etc.; and scavenger would make the ratio 1-1. -Bring back special ammo crates, I liked that system but I know not everyone was a fan. -Disable scavenger as well as make it so everyone starts with one ammo each life, under this system everyone who has a special weapon should drop 1 ammo even if they were out, so as to not give an unfair advantage to people respawning. I'm sure the list goes on, but bungie I honestly don't care what you pick just please do something about it. --The actual balance of special weapons could use some changes as well. The ideas I personally like the most are lower sniper aa across the board. make fusions rifles projectile weapons rather than hitscan. and make shotguns incur -2 mobility while holding them, lightweight shotguns would be neutral. Armor Maybe it's just me but the current way armor stats work is frustrating and overly complicated. It's also the most rng riddled system in the whole game. --The main way i'd like to see things get changed is to at least in part revert to the way things worked in destiny 1. So remove mobility, recovery, and resilience as randomly rolled stats on armor. Then one new stat would be added for your class ability cooldown (existing armor would use the existing stat for each class, mobility for hunters etc.) Then make it so that those three stats would be selected by the player in some form or fashion. Some examples: -Bring back the old codex system -Introduce a new armor mod slot -Have it directly configurable when viewing your inventory -Introduce a new slot for applying stat changes similar to artifacts I imagine it as each stat having a max of 10, and you would have like 18 total stat points. Each class would also have three of those stat points locked into the stat their class excels with (mobility for hunters, recovery for warlocks and resilience for titans) to give a bit more uniqueness to the classes. --Personally I’d like to reduce the rng even further, by making it so that every stat rolls in increments of 10 (could be five as well I suppose). I could also see people being against this change just for it largely nullifying the grind for good armor, which is fair enough I guess. But to be honest if nothing changes that's fine as well, I just will never get very invested in armor rolls. Classes This could potentially just break the game in some ways or maybe it just wouldn’t work very well for some reason. But I would love to see the old subclass system return from destiny 1. So let the player choose which perk combinations to go with rather than forcing you to choose from 1 of 3 perk trees. Video options -DLSS support for nvidia rtx cards on pc. This mode could bring a huge performance uplift for people who have a supported graphics card. -Enable choosing your voice language separate from your text language Controls -Support for using mouse and keyboard on console -Direct support for gyro aiming on ps4, ps5, and pc. If you have never tried gyro aiming in a shooter I highly encourage you to give it a shot if you're able to; Cause it’s a game changer! Just as a quick explanation gyro aiming involves very subtle movements of your controller to allow for very fine aiming, large movements can allow for big camera flicks; The aiming style feels similar to a mouse but it's frictionless. You can enable it in destiny on pc using steams built in features. To do so however you are forced to have your controller emulate mouse and keyboard, binding each of your pc inputs to your desired button (destiny in particular can be a hassle for making this work well). This does come with its fair share of oddities and issues though; Like not being able to seamlessly use the same buttons for operating menus as with a regular controller setup (there are some solutions you can use here but I found them to be more trouble than they're worth due to leading to circumstances in which I could not control my character). The benefits to gyro aiming are huge though. I completely switched off of M&K in favor of my switch pro controller with gyro aiming. Once you tune it well and get used to it (and it does have a somewhat of a steep learning curve), You’ll find that it's just as competitive as M&K. But don’t take my word for it, try it out, or watch some videos on it. It’s a heavily supported feature in Nintendo switch games for a reason. Anyone who has tried it out will recognize that it's vastly superior and more comfortable than traditional twin stick aiming. It’s even possible that highly practiced and optimized gyro users could outcompete equivalent mouse and keyboard users. Enabling gyro aiming would completely turn off stick friction aim assist and use M&K weapon recoil. -Enable simultaneous M&K/controller support. I imagine this would be a setting that when enabled would disable stick friction AA and use M&K weapon recoil. If feature was implemented direct gyro support would be unnecessary on pc (but still appreciated) -Fix vehicle bindings for M&K Enable custom binding of sparrow sideways dash Allow binding primary fire and brake to the same key and alternate fire and accelerate or vice versa -Support for hd rumble (switch pro included) and the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers found in the dualsense for ps5 and pc -60fps cutscenes on pc and the new consoles Networking -Full cross play between all consoles and pc. I think many long time destiny fans would agree this really would be a dream come true! -Input based matchmaking for crucible. Players using gyro aiming would be put into M&K matchmaking (it genuinely would be completely unfair otherwise). Stick users who join fireteams with M&K/Gyro users would then be matchmaking in M&K lobbies. -Dedicated servers. Ya I know this will probably never happen but a man can dream dammit! -Crack down harder on cheating. Crucible -Introduce in game open tournaments no light level nonsense -A competitive rumble option -Rotate in old maps and game modes. I miss rift and rumble supremacy -Big team game modes on big maps with vehicles including tanks, and maybe introduce a flying vehicle. -A primary only game mode -A Europa map would be sick Supposing all of this came true destiny would easily be one of my favorite games of all time. https://youtu.be/binPB4YbWmM | https://youtu.be/5dsL1wgu2e8 | https://youtu.be/ehvz3iN8pp4
