So Variks is returned with the new expansion and it's unknown if it'll be mentioned that he was the one who started the prison riot and escape that got Cayde killed. To tell you the truth I don't really care that he did and hope he sticks around to interact more.
There's also Uldren who has been reborn and who may or may not be returning as the new tutorial guardian Shaw Han. I have the same opinion on him as Variks.
The reason I bring it up at all is I assumed most people would be on board with more characters sticking around and not being thrown out but I've seen some unrelated let's plays and I see now that alot of players hold petty grudges for a long long time. Also Bungie bringing Uldren back might seem a cop out to people who played Forsaken and thought it was all done and dusted so Uldren walking back in the door like nothing happened might anger players who don't keep up on the ongoing story. So I understand Bungie being really vague about what Uldren is up to or if he'll show up in any major way again but honestly I really like Uldren (&Variks) and I'm totally for forgiving him and being buddies if that's an option.
Am I alone on this?

Variks is a lil -blam!- who started a huge mess and hasn't shown face in 2 years and Uldren is no more. He is a new person with an old familiar face. Crow is who you all should be familiarizing with.
-
Uldren maybe, if he does something to redeem himself. Variks hell no. There was literally no reason to release the Scorn Baron. Everyone else, sure. To cover his escape. But the Scorn Barons were such a much larger threat, and Variks knew this.

I personally don't think Variks started the riot with the intention to kill Cayde. So I'm forgiving Variks for an accident. -
Just kill em both, lets just kill everyone

Uldren Sov is dead, so no contest. So the real question is Variks, where to forgive, it would mean I'd have to stop being mad at his catalyzation of the events that took Cayde. This would require something from him. On the bright side, forgiveness doesn't mean what he did is okay now.
-
Uldren: possessed by Riven Variks: freed the barons but didn’t explicitly want to kill Cayde Both are okay in my book
-
Yeah variks did some dirt but that’s just for the flowers 🤔
-
I hold no grudge against them. I didn't feel attached to Cayde the clown.
-
At this point, focus should be on the future enemy(-ies) then variks. Do I think he will answer for his crimes? No. I don't see the vanguard or awoken as being that strong to do so. Will he be used as a tool for the rest of his life as a result? Absolutely. He is Variks, betrayer of the Awoken Queen. Anywho contest his eventual demise by the painful and bloody end (possibly us too) is too foolish to realize the negative karma of killing a hunter vanguard. As for Uldren. He joined the winning team. Europa is only part of the solution. The rest is going to be bloody conflict after bloody conflict. If you are a pacifist by nature? Realize the obvious statement: "Violence is never the answer. You are correct. It is the question."

Cause how could you give your love to someone else And share your dreams with me Sometimes the very thing you're looking for Is the one thing you can't see But now we're standing face to face Isn't this world a crazy place Just when I thought our chance had passed You go and save the best for last Sometimes the very thing you're looking for Is the one thing you can't see Sometimes the snow comes down in June Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon Just when I thought our chance had passed You go and save the best for last

I forgave Uldren before Petra killed him. I don’t need to forgive Variks, he didn’t tell the Barons to go after Cayde. It was a terrible coincidence.

Изменено (Kanashimi510): 10/22/2020 5:08:47 PMFirst and foremost, the phlegm filled bug called Variks needs to die. To be clear, we need to put him down. ...Maybe then, we can talk about such possibilities as "forgiveness". Uldren? Uldren is dead, though I can see why some people are still a little put off by his presence. There hasn't been much time between his actions, his death, and his physical reappearance.

Uldren payed with his life , and was chosen to be a guardian just like us , he has a clean slate Variks let the psychos loose in the asylum , the lore states it was out of loyalty to his prince and the burden of making sure his race survives Variks might be forgiven, but he does owe us an explanation for his actions that led to terrible consequences in the reef -
Look, at least Uldren has no idea wtf he did. Zero memories. Variks knows what he did and would do it again.
-
Yeah let’s kill uldren!!!
-
What mission or dialogue explained Variks causing the prison break?
;)
-
Neither 😡
-
So basically every character but Cayde can cone back. Another F U by Bungo
-
Uldren was a dick in D1, but the Uldren that killed Cayde was being manipulated by Riven. And now, he’s a blank slate. He deserves forgiveness
-
Forgive? They are both heros! Give them medals imo
-
Uldren was killed and won't be hunter vanguard as he never met caydes dares requirements. Variks wants the best for his people but he will stand against us if necessary. He was the cause of the prison break as well so... Yeah. Maybe forgive Variks if his goals are good. Uldren needs to earn his place as everyone has had to. Exept hunter vanguard. He didn't meet caydes requirements.
-
First off, there's nothing to forgive with Uldren. I put a bullet in him in the end of Forsaken and killed him for Cayde, so that's done and done. Whoever he is now is not Uldren, there is nothing to forgive. Variks caused the riots, yesss, but he didn't kill Cayde. Let's be honest, I liked Cayde, but his rashness got him into that spot, not Variks and Variks didn't invite the Scorn in or give them the "magic Ghost killing ammo" either.
-
Uldren is the universes whiniest tool, we should have killed him on site and incinerated his body so he can never come back.
-
Uldren's already been punished via execution then being reborn as the one thing he hated most (a Guardian). Now that he no longer remembers what he did (and if he did learn of it I doubt he'd just go back to his old ways), I'd say it's time to forgive. We don't need him becoming an enemy yet again, and his presence may prove key in finally getting rid of the Scorn permanently. Variks is more questionable since he was completely aware of the consequences of leaving the prison in disarray, though Cayde's death was ultimately collateral rather than deliberate. I won't hold Cayde's death against him as a result, but I think he should be held accountable for the prison break after Eramis is dealt with (whether that be being locked up there himself, returning to his original duty, etc).
-
Uldren was always a prick. Variks was just doing his best for his people.
