Alternative to Weapon Sunsetting

Alternative to Weapon Sunsetting (Plus another cool idea although extreme) Introduction So off rip, I know people aren't going to agree and there are those who will but that's the great thing, this could be revised and I like hearing everyone's opinion. I personally do not care for weapon sunsetting whether it is implemented or not, I am going to play and enjoy Destiny regardless. I come here though to offer an alternative idea to weapon sunsetting while still accomplishing the same goal. My idea is based off of experiences from both Destiny 1 and 2 along with opinions coming from friends who do and do not play the game and family who do not play Destiny and random people who I meet through LFG on Destiny groups and randoms that actually talk during Apex Legends matches. I explained to those who do not play Destiny how the current Destiny weapon system works and what Bungie is doing to change what we have right now. I also told them the problems some have but also the positives weapon sunsetting could have, from ruining players' time investment but allowing a fresh change to the sandbox. They all helped me form and make adjustments to my idea once I told them everything. This is also not a set in stone answer to cure a problem, this is just an alternative idea. (This other idea I have had for awhile and I have been on and off typing this thing for maybe two or three months because I am lazy but I was inspired to add the idea to this after seeing the new set of exotics released for Beyond Light today as of 10/7/20, it will be explained at the end after the main things I would like to talk about). Weapon Vaulting My alternative to weapon sunsetting is for Bungie to take their vaulting thing, and pump it up to 11. That is for Bungie to add weapons to the DCV (Destiny Content Vault). This whole idea came from Me playing Warframe and doing things like relic runs. In Warframe, you can obtain relics which you use to get prime parts to build prime warframes or prime weapons but that is neither here nor there. These relics had a set of rewards that is randomized and you can have multiple relics with different rewards. The thing is, after a certain point, all relics with a specific loot piece in its pool will be taken out so you can longer get that relic anymore. This helps with Warframes trade economy. But at a later date, the relics with said specific piece could come back for players to earn. My idea with this and Destiny is, is that weapons could be vaulted in the coming seasons and no longer be earned. That does not mean that if you have a weapon that is vaulted, it cannot be used anymore but it means that it just cannot be obtained anymore by players. A good example of this currently in place (most likely not intentional by Bungie) is the Felwinters Lie. It was available for a season and can be used by players who got it but can no longer be obtained by newer players. So right now, Felwinters Lie is vaulted but with the vaulting system I am proposing, later maybe like 3 seasons, Felwinters Lie becomes available to earn again but with different and random rolls. This Felwinters Lie would have the current seasons emblem in the corner while the Season of the Worthy’s Felwinters Lie would also be available to use and bumped up to the current seasons light cap. Now this gun would be able to be used again for a few more seasons and allows new players to try out a gun while also allowing veterans to earn a new reprised version of Felwinters Lie to fit their playstyle or use their old original one which respects players' time investment into the game. That is how I see the vaulting system being used in Destiny if implemented. With that, I still have a few things to add. Adjustments to the Weapon Economy Along with some Benefits Currently as we know, when a weapon releases, it will have a 1 year life span before being sunsetted. I would say that with the weapon vaulting system, when a new weapon comes out, it would be able to keep up with the seasons light caps for up to 2 or 3 seasons before being vaulted. Then when weapons come back, they are only there for that season before being vaulted again or maybe stay for that season and the season next. As for raid weapons, they would keep up no matter what as Bungie has them currently set up to be. This would help create a diverse and constant evolving world in Destiny since I have in mind maybe 15 to 25 random weapons coming in and out of the vault as the seasons go on. Bungie could hand pick a few or have a category that takes up the majority when cycling into a season and out allowing them to have a bit more control on things in the PvE and PvP meta. Or Bungie could just have it be completely random. Regardless, this constant cycling of weapons would help with meta’s and potentially take away from the staleness that can sometimes happen over time when a certain set of weapons just dominate and rise above the rest. Also with the cycling of weapons, Bungie would potentially also be able to tune, rework, buff or nerf weapon types and perks showing that Bungie does really care (I am absolutely not saying they do not care but it would help show for those who do think they do not care) about the state of the game. Along with all that, weapons coming in and out and being reprised along with bumps to earlier iterations of the guns would help with some people's sentiment that Bungie doesn’t respect players' time investment into the game. People would now be able to earn weapons, leave for maybe a year and suddenly come back to a season where the gun is back and feel rewarded with a unique roll that can't be earned anymore. A perfect example of this would be Cammy Cakes. He farmed for a Tataras Gaze with I believe Snapshot, Kill Clip and Ricochet Rounds. After news about sunsetting, He deleted all of his rolls since there was no point in keeping them since they wouldn’t be able to be used in pinnacle activities. If vaulting was in place, He could keep them and when Tataras Gaze comes back, He could use his OG one along with getting a new one with new rolls. Maybe the new Tataras Gaze could roll Explosive Rounds and Auto-Loading Holster. It respects players’ time investment while entertaining newer audiences. Along with this, it could also help out YouTubers with content on Destiny. Like Waking Vigil gets vaulted and becomes unvaulted 6 seasons from now. MTashed would make a video like “YOU CAN’T GET THIS ROLL ANYMORE” along with creating another review on the gun since it’ll have different rolls. That is essentially all I have to say. Thank You When I post this, I know it is going to be really late from when I even had this idea and feedback but that is how I am, a major procrastinator. Thank you to all who have read through this. If you have anything to ask or say whether its calling me stupid or saying it is a cool idea, You can contact me at @Uquri_ on twitter or just look for Uquri on anything usually. I go by that name on everything from PS to Xbox and such. Again, thank you for getting this far and have a good day. Feel free to spread this around but please just credit me, or don’t it's whatever. (Bonus further down) Cool Exotic Idea that You do not have to Read So this idea I had since maybe year one of D2 but to me, it is too crazy to implement and I have been trying to nerf it so much to make it maybe viable in Destiny but whatever, here it is. Exotic Class Items. I know, we had 3 back in D1 but what if it did more. These would come back with their original perk “Life of an Exotic” where it just allowed it to be equipped with another exotic but now add a perk I call “Power Stabilized” where it would allow you to equip a 3rd exotic armor piece but due to all the power flowing through your guardian, a minus 30 (-30) to all stat points will be applied after equipping the 3rd exotic. So minus 30 to Agility, Recovery, Resilience, Discipline, Intellect and Strength to help stabilize everything. This would add even more variety to the game for allowing even more armor builds to Destiny. The way I would say one should acquire these exotic class items would be just about the same as they were in Destiny 1. These class items are only available through vendors/factions and their ranks. A guardian would receive an exotic quest once they reach level 100 with a said vendor and once the quest is completed, you get the exotic and it will be designed and based after said vendor/faction. So there would be one for Gunsmith, maybe Cryptarch, Vanguard, Crucible, Trials, Gambit, Iron Banner and even for maybe Variks if He is an NPC Vendor in Beyond Light, Devrim or Earth, Eric/Moon, Nessus/ Failsafe and so on. It would add the ability to represent who you like most or who you feel you side with on a roleplay or personal level. And this could potentially lead back to bringing in Factions such as Future War Cult, New Monarchy and Dead Orbit, not even for the rallies but for the fantasy players love in Destiny. That is all and I wanted to add this because I am a Fallen sympathizer and would love to represent the Fallen and use a cloak in honor of them while also sporting that awesome new Hunter helmet which grants a shift to our dodge and Sixth Coyote which is easily my favorite hunter exotic. Hope everyone that read this enjoyed it and have a good day.
