Trials of Osiris Matchmaking and Mode suggestion

When it comes to the subject of Trials, IMO there are 2 types of people. The people that hate it because of their experience in that mode, and elitist try hards that usually reply with something along the lines of “get good”. I think the biggest issue is and has been matchmaking. The skill gap is INSANE. When I am running with a team that has between a 1.0 and 2.0 KDA and match immediately with people that absolutely live in Trials with 6.0 KDs we get erased. It is frustrating and divides the community on the game mode. I like PvP just as much as the next guy but this is nuts. The system needs a rework entirely. From matchmaking to the rewards. By keeping such a gap in skill level across matches it is encouraging people to pay for trials carries, and for some this is the only way to reap the benefits of an endgame activity. Yes there are LFG sites but many of the people on there are either average players or promoting social media such as YouTube or Twitch in exchange for carries or selling carries for real money. This in its self should point out that there is a REAL problem with that game mode. I am not saying completely devoid a flawless ticket by just handing out rewards, but rather come up with a system that can earn you end game rewards for your time investment into the mode. Now, I am not one to just complain and not offer a solution. My idea is to create a ranking system that resets every week. Upon hitting certain ranks you will be rewarded the same rewards as 3, 5, and 7 wins. Of course wins will be worth significantly more, however this gives anyone who is willing to invest time in this game mode the ability to earn the same rewards. For example let’s say you have bad luck and lose 10 matches in a row, as far as a time investment you should be able to receive the same rewards as someone with 3 wins (similar to how the bounty works now). To sweeten the deal allow 3, 4, and 7 wins to grant 3, 5 and 7 enhancement cores. As far as flawless. Flawless should offer exclusive rewards such a flawless emblem. The trials ghost shell and sparrow, even a glow/ ornament. By no means do I think that we should strip people of there achievements on going flawless but locking armor and weapons behind a skill wall that many players will never be able to climb will always divide the community. There are always gonna be people who complain, elitists that don’t want anyone to be able to earn any of the rewards if they don’t win or don’t go flawless. These people will admittedly make very few people attempt to sharpen their skill level. However the biggest contributions they’ll play is making people stop playing the mode. There will always be people who say “it takes to long to get rewards”, and these people typically want everything to be easy. This is just a suggestion, but honestly creating a time over investment rewards for trials isn’t a bad idea, it may even attract a wider player base to the mode

  • After even more thought here is a simpler solution . Offer 2 more bounties for Trials Engram. Current bounty is already the same reward as 3 wins. Remember if you lose every round this will take 10 matches or about 1.5 hrs. If every round is won it will still take 5 matches or ~1 hr if matches average at 10 minutes each. Play rounds in Trials. Wins are worth 2 point. Losses are worth 1 point. Total of 90 points. Make it equivalent to 5 wins (if you lose every round it’ll take ~18 matches. If the normal match takes 10 Minutes, this is 3 hours of gameplay. If every round is won this is 9 matches, a 1.5 hour investment) Play trials matches. Make it equivalent to 7 wins. Percentage based. Loses are worth 4%, wins are worth 7% ( if the average match is 10 minutes this will take ~6 hours or 25 matches. If every match is won this is a ~2.5 hr investment or 15 matches) This gives the people with a lower skill level the ability to grind through the weekend, broadening their own skill level while still rewarding them for their time investment, as well as rewarding them with a progression bonus for winning. Otherwise keep trials the same besides better matchmaking. This will encourage engagement into the mode
