It was smaller, cheaper and had some amazing first party games which is what matters. It was a blue ray player which was cheaper and a more useful than buying one separately. It pumped out some of the best quality games at the time that even got ports to ps4. Hate all you want, ps3 was a great system and had numbers to back it up.

I don’t care for single player story games. Gears of War was revolutionary on 360.

So? Development still happened, third party games in 360 came to ps3 so what point does that make? So gears was revolutionary but amazing first party games on ps3 is subjective? Games like the last of us is praised as a technical master piece for such hardware. It even looks like an early ps4 game scaled to 1080p. Ps4 had many great exclusives that are backed up by sales numbers so even if it's solely opinion based it is in the high praise.

It’s widely documented that it pushed the boundaries of graphics and gameplay early in the console’s life. (It’s still considered the best third person shooter ever made) PS3 did have a slight edge in graphics but only when it came to exclusives. Microsoft was light years ahead of Sony when it came to online gaming. I was always a Playstation guy until a friend sold me his Xbox 360 and I’ve never looked back. PS5 and Series X will be interesting considering how different the architecture is in the hardware.
